WNC Dominates Day One of Final Home Stand
The Western Nevada College baseball team took care of business on Friday. In the first doubleheader of its final home series this season, the Wildcats dominated Colorado Northwestern Community College, 11-2 and 15-1, and collected 28 hits. Â Now, WNC is looking to capture Saturday's doubleheader in an effort to move into second place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, and gain a first-round bye in next week's NJCAA Region 18 tournament in Las Vegas.
WNC's fate is not entirely its own, though, as it stands a half-game out of second place in the SWAC, behind Salt Lake Community College. Â SLCC is in a fight of its own this weekend as it takes on league leading College of Southern Nevada in a four-game series at home. But playing at John L. Harvey Field against sixth place Colorado Northwestern may help the Wildcats secure the victories it needs to move into second place.
