Historic Coin Press No. 1 is back in service at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City. The 154-year-old artifact is the only coin press of its kind still in operation.

Coin Press No. 1 demonstrations occur every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the historic Carson City Mint building at the Nevada State Museum.

Summer signals the return of the annual Carson City Library Summer Reading Challenge starting Saturday, June 17 from 12 to 4 p.m. with a themed kick-off celebration titled, "Around the World.”

A tradition since 1988, Carson High Safe Grad was started by the community following a series of alcohol-related graduation night incidents and deaths. Safe Grad is an all-night graduation party held at the Carson City Community Center celebrating students completing their education while also preventing the use of alcohol and drugs, including drunk driving.
