Carson City arrests: Man booked for false imprisonment in bicycle incident
A 52-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor false imprisonment, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
The suspect, listed as a transient, was arrested at 5 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street.
According to the booking report, a deputy driving on North Carson Street observed a man frantically run into the number 2 travel lane and begin flagging the deputy down. The deputy, who knows the man through prior contacts, made contact with the suspect who was under the influence of drugs. His movements were rigid, abrupt and spontaneous, and his behavior was overly-suspicious and paranoid, the report states.
The suspect pointed to a citizen who was riding his bike southbound on Carson Street and began trying to explain the man had done something to his (the suspect's) bike. The bike was flipped over as he was trying to show the deputy the bike chain that had fallen off the sprocket. At this time, the deputy advised the man he needed to go find somewhere to calm down or he was going to get himself into trouble. The suspect was argumentative, demanding a report regarding his unfounded claims, the arrest report states.
Less than an hour later, deputies were dispatched to the 1900 block of North Carson Street for a report of a dispute. The reporting party stated a male adult was standing in front of his truck, preventing him from leaving. The RP also reported the man was yelling at others and appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
When deputies arrived they observed the suspect and his bike pushed up against the front of the truck, physically touching the truck and preventing the RP from leaving for work. The reporting party stated the suspect was arguing with other subjects when he went to his truck, with the suspect's bike against his bumper where he couldn't leave due to the suspect's behavior. The reporting party stated they wished to press charges. The suspect was arrested for gross misdemeanor false imprisonment and taken to jail. Bail: $2,500.
