It was organized by Maddie's Pet Project in Nevada, a three-year campaign aimed at helping more homeless cats and dogs find good homes and creating a safety net for pets by improving access to veterinary care in the Silver State.

The Northern Nevada Development Authority will host its monthly Business Edge meeting at Casino Fandango with a focus on Nevada's energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives. Also happening: Fusion cooking classes at Healthy Communities Coalition’s Dayton headquarters, plus the Veterans Resource Group will make a visit to the Dayton Food Pantry. There's also a Wine and Moondance Chocolate Pairing at Expresso Yourself inside the Brewery Arts Center, plus art workshops and showings, Salsa dancing and more.

Veterans Resource Groups Visit Food Pantries in Silver Springs, Dayton and Yerington

TMCC Veterans Upward Bound shared information at the Yerington Food Pantry on September 18th. They will be on hand at the Dayton Food Pantry to share information on Wednesday, September 25 from noon to 4pm. They will also be at the Silver Stage Food Pantry to share information on Wednesday October 2 from 1pm-4pm.

Lyon County group forms to address illegal dumping and promote ways to stop it

The Illegal Dumping Work Group, which represents a number of agencies and nonprofit organizations, will meet on a quarterly basis to continue collaboration and cooperation in its efforts to clean up areas where illegal dumping frequently happens.

Lyon County: Brush fire near Yerington contained after section of 95A closed

Central Lyon County investigates Silver Springs fire involving structures, vehicles

UPDATE 5:09PM: A Lyon County battalion chief said Red Cross will be notified that occupants from three separate residences have been displaced in what he described as "a significant event."

UPDATE 4:59PM: Central Lyon County Fire reports forward progress of the fire was stopped at 4:55 p.m. The cause is under investigation. It is unknown at this time how many structures, vehicles and other property have burned.

UPDATE 4:45PM: Lyon County has opened a shelter at the Silver Springs Community, Senior Center at 2945 Fort Churchill Road in Silver Springs.

UPDATE 4:32PM: Central Lyon Fire and other agencies are fighting the wildland urban interface fire in Silver Springs. Resources from Yerington, Storey County, Lyon County Road Department and Carson City are responding. EMS is establishing a triage area, said Lyon County Manager Jeff Page. All people are advised to stay out of the area.

Northern Nevada Development Authority: Mineral County Joins Nevada’s Sierra Region

The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development \has designated NNDA as the regional development authority (RDA) for the county, effective July 1, 2019. One such student is Paul Klemm, the owner of Carson City’s Rehaul.

Americorps Volunteers are Summertime Mentors at Boys and Girls Clubs

Rapid snowmelt prompts flood warning for portions of the Walker River

Flows along this portion of the river are expected to slowly rise this week and into the weekend in response to rapid snowmelt in the headwaters.
Heat to produce swift, cold river stream flows in Douglas, southern Lyon and Mono counties
