Learn something new at one of the lectures tonight: Nicholas Clapp, author of ‘Dancing with the Devil: Virginia City’ at the Gold Hill Hotel or head to the Nevada State Museum to learn about the first fabricator of Levi’s jeans, Nevada’s own J.W. Davis. Take in some amazing views with Muscle Powered as they hike the Pine Nut Mountains. Michael Saloga is the presenter at this month’s Soup’s On! luncheon sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and will discuss how to raise the bar in 2016. If you’d prefer to raise a glass, head to the Firkin and Fox for their Founder’s Brewery Tap Takeover and try a new beer. We’ve all felt the occasional urge to ride off into the sunset, but it was those Pony Express boys that actually did it. Learn about their history from the Pony Express Association at Red’s Old 395. An informative talk at the Carson City Library sheds some light on why life is so crazy. If you’ve always wanted to learn to play with fire, then check out Controlled Burn. This regional fire spinning group will show you the ropes at A to Zen.

It's Your City: Winter, Wine and Jazz this Saturday at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City

This week's It's Your City with host Cortney Bloomer features guest Kyle Horvath, board president of the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

The International Film Weekend has returned for the third year and brings a bit of multiculturalism with it. Spend the afternoon in Marlette Hall at Western Nevada College to see what some local filmmakers have created, and then head over to the Community Center for tonight’s film ‘Cherry Blossoms.’ This is a free event and just gets bigger and better. Check out the Career Expo highlighting the Career and Technical Education program at Carson High; it’s open to the public and students. Take a gander at the list for all of today’s options.

Gardening in Nevada class Tuesday features grape growing, wine making techniques

As the planning season for gardening begins, University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and their Certified Master Gardeners offer a chance to help you get the most out of your garden.

Cooperative Extension has teamed up with Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space to offer “Gardening in Nevada: The Bartley Ranch Series.” Classes are free and run 6 – 8 p.m. every Tuesday through March 29, at Bartley Ranch Regional Park, 6000 Bartley Ranch Road in Reno.
