Shadow and Light photographers featured at Nevada Day Store during Downtown Wine Walk
The Nevada Day Store and Trading Post features many fine art Photographers and this Saturday we are showcasing some of “The Shadow and Light Photographers” beautiful work.
This group was started by Fine Art Photographer, Dennis Doyle on Facebook. It is giving photographers of every level a place where all can share their work and learn from one another. They post and share and when asked, constructive criticism is also given and appreciated.
Here is a little insight to these amazing talented Photographers.
Kristen Kabrin- Featured Artist, Nevada Day Store & Trading Post
“I love being a photographer. Very few things bring me the joy of getting out before the sun rises, scouting for the “perfect” spot, or looking for that angle that brings the beauty out of a landscape and then it happens…the sun peeks over the horizon and colors that warm your heart surround you for a fleeting second. Hours of preparation for a few moments of glory. It’s good to be alive and with camera in hand. And, that’s just for a sunrise. Being a landscape photographer gets me out to those places to see the best that nature has to offer. I enjoy going to the places that are recognizable to many and finding a new perspective just as much as discovering a new hidden hot spot. Showing my artwork is relatively new and initially was very difficult.
Photography is very personal while very visible at the same time. You want people to like your work, but I’ve learned that it’s just as important that I like my work, as well. I’ve learned to enjoy getting out there and meeting the public. Talking with people about experiences they have had shooting their camera, or their latest adventure to a spot I might like”
Laura De Simone- Jim Shafer of Western Images
“I've shot digital for about 3 1/2 to 4 years. But, I shot film back in the day. I shot part time for the Nevada Appeal and the Gazette-Journal. I don't know that I have a style. I really enjoy shooting sports and people. I like to shoot landscapes, but I'm not very good at it.”
Laura De Simone and Jim Shafer both have their own photography company, Western Images in Fernley, Nev. Shafer, recently had the cover image of Nevada Magazine and took second place in the 2016 Shooting the West photo contest. His image will be used in marketing materials for this year's Shooting the West symposium. Both are skilled rodeo photographers and enjoy shooting the western life, including Native American ceremonies.
