Western Nevada FC to face CD Aguiluchos USA 23 this Saturday

Coming off a tremendous 7-1 victory over FC Sacramento in its last home game, Western Nevada Futbol Club will play host to CD Aguiluchos USA 23 from Oakland, CA in a United Premier Soccer League Pro Premier Northwest Conference match this Saturday, May 13. Registration is now open for the 2017 Motorcycle Rider Course classes. WNC uses the Motorcycle Safety Foundation curriculum for the Basic Rider Course (BRC) - $160, Basic Rider Course II - $85 and the Advanced Rider Course (ARC) $85.

Western Nevada College Driver Education Course

Offers thirty hours of new driver education in a classroom setting. Meets requirements to obtain a Nevada driver's license. Uses lectures, interactive CD's, videos and on occasion guest speakers: Auto Insurance, Accident Victims, DMV Examiner, Department of Public Safety, Law Enforcement, and our WNC Auto Instructor to give vehicle and engine component identification. Class instruction will cover Nevada driving regulations, basic vehicle control, and challenging situations.

Open to students ages 15 and above. Please Note: Driver Education class fees are non-refundable.

Sunny days, sweeping the clouds away. On my way to where the air is sweet. I can tell you where to find some fun, down on Carson Street. Mile High Jazz Band at Comma Coffee is the hot ticket tonight. Such a beautiful day in store, they’ll probably be in the courtyard. Our rivers and reservoirs are filled to the brim: if you ever wanted to learn more about fly-fishing, this is probably a good time for it. The Carson City Fly Fishing Club meets monthly at the Carson City Airport and is a perfect choice for those who already love or are curious about the sport.

The Reno Rodeo 100, a multimedia project collecting stories leading up to the 100-year anniversary of the Reno Rodeo, is debuting the first storytelling event this Saturday, May 13 at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City. Tickets are available for the event, which includes short documentary films, audio stories with slides and live storytellers.

And the pendulum of crazy weather returns to something spring-like. Granted, the lawns and gardens in Carson City are loving this wet stuff, I just want the sunshine to stay put. The brewery at the corner of Proctor and N. Carson Street will soon be opening as ‘The Union’ and is seeking staff for what promises to be an exciting downtown venture for chef, Mark Estee. A job fair today and Tuesday will have hiring managers on hand to fill the front and back of the house. Wildfire Awareness Month is honored at the State Legislature today.

A few showers today, rain and river runoff add to park area flooding along Morgan Mill Road

More rain showers are in the forecast on this Sunday, according to the National Weather Service, adding to soggy conditions and rain-soaked saturated areas around Morgan Mill Road and up through Empire Ranch Golf Course which have experienced flooding.
