With the official day of summer arriving with the solstice on Monday, the weather will heat up around Carson City, with very hot temperatures expected for central and southern Nevada and some areas of western and northern Nevada.

High pressure will build across the West resulting in a rapid warm up in temperatures into early next week, according to the National Weather Service.
This will provide a sharp swing in high temperatures where we could see a 30 degree jump in highs from this week into next Tuesday.

Low pressure will bring gusty winds and cool temperatures into Friday with the highest winds on Wednesday as a cold front moves through the region. A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 11 p.m. for the Sierra front, which includes Carson City.

Spring around western Nevada continues to bring unsettled weather to the Carson City area. An upper level low will linger over the region this week bringing cooler than average temperatures and chances of showers with isolated thunderstorms each day, according to the National Weather Service.

Valley temperatures around western Nevada will be in the 30s Saturday night into Sunday morning while it will dip into the 20s elsewhere across the Sierra, according to the National Weather Service.
