Windy conditions prompt Red Flag Warning for Carson City region
Dry conditions will continue around Carson City with increasing winds Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Gusts up to 40 mph are expected Thursday, with stronger gusts up to 45 mph Friday, mainly during the afternoon and evening.
This will bring increased fire danger especially below 5000 feet, and a Red Flag Warning is in effect for the Western Nevada Sierra Front, which includes the Reno-Sparks-Carson City vicinity. What can you do to help?
Take special precautions on Red Flag Warning days including:
— Report fires to local officials via 911
— Clear brush and remove flammable materials from around your home
— Have a family emergency plan
— Avoid outdoor activities which could spark a wildfire
