Carson City weekend weather: Hot through Saturday, with chance of thunderstorms
Temperatures will remain well above average through Saturday under strong high pressure, with lower valleys around Carson City reaching the mid-90s to near 100 in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service advises:
— Protect yourself from the heat while working or playing outside this summer.
— Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and apply sunscreen regularly.
— Dress in lightweight and light colored clothing and wear a wide brimmed hat.
— Bring the pets indoors, make sure they have plenty of water when they are outdoors. Never, under any circumstances, leave them alone in vehicles.
From Saturday evening through Monday, the focus turns to the potential for thunderstorms with strong outflow winds, 35-55 mph and, by Sunday afternoon, brief heavy rain and small hail.
For next week, temperatures remain above to well above average through Tuesday before it turns cooler and breezier as low pressure moves into the West.
