The countdown to the weekend begins as we head into midweek, Wednesday, July 24, 2019 with daytime highs in the low 90s and plenty of indoor and outdoor activities. Heading into Wednesday, July 17, 2019 and we're looking at another sunshine-filled day full of activities including Trails 4 Tails at Riverview Park, an open house at Carson City's Foreman-Roberts House Museum, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center with a showing of "Monster's University" to follow and more. As we head into Tuesday, July 16, 2019 we're reminded it's halfway through the month and time sure is flying as we celebrate our summertime favorite stops around the Carson City region. For Tuesday we have walks, hikes and bike rides, a Red Cross "be ready" presentation, Fat Tuesday Business Networking in Dayton, art classes, showings and more. Enjoy.

The Capital City Arts Initiative presents an exhibition, "Fast Lane/Slow Bake" by artists Cyndy Brenneman and Tom Drakulich in the Community Center’s Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City.

The exhibition runs now to Oct. 24, 2019. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Friday, July 12, 5-7 p.m. in the Sierra Room, and the artists will give a brief talk about their work at 5:30 p.m.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Arts Council announced Friday the awarding of more than $1 million in statewide grants to 172 recipients ranging from individual artists to nonprofit organizations and public institutions for the 2020 fiscal year.

Whether you are a new or continuing watercolor student, learn to splash and play while discovering the expansive possibilities of watercolor. In each 4-week class, we will explore several different approaches to watercolor. We will also investigate art fundamental topics concentrating on one topic per 4-week session.

Students may choose their own subjects, with instructor input as to relevance based on individual skill level. Supplies required.
