Carson City Walmart provides $25,000 helping hand to FISH for new food delivery truck

Showing its continued support for the Carson City community, Walmart has donated a $25,000 grant to Friends in Service Helping, otherwise known as FISH, for its food bank delivery vehicle.

Walmart recently provided the money needed for the new FISH Food Bank delivery truck, which currently distributes to food bank locations in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties.  

Carson City man returned from Idaho to face felony charge

A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested in Boise, Idaho and faces a felony charge relating to an assault where a witness was prevented from reporting a crime and a motor vehicle was taken, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

Adam Craig Meservey was extradited on Oct. 24 to face one felony charge after a May 2012 warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court. He also faces a gross misdemeanor warrant charge of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and a misdemeanor warrant charge of assault, issued in February 2012 out of Carson City Justice Court.
Bail: $8,000.

Carson City woman jailed on felony witness intimidation charge

A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday and faces a felony charge of intimidating a witness.
Rebecca Taylor was booked into Carson City Jail at 2:20 p.m. and is being held on $15,000 bail.

According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to 400 Saliman Road. Carson City dispatch informed deputies that Taylor had bail conditions not to meet with a man and that she had been at his residence.

Several misdemeanor arrests made by Carson City authorities during weekend

The following arrests were made over the weekend by the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
A 26-year-old Carson City woman was arrested at 5:27 p.m. at Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street. She faces misdemeanor charges of petit larceny and disorderly conduct. A 34-year-old woman with her face charges of petit larceny and violation of a suspended sentence.

Carson City woman admits to falsifying documents to steal sister's student loan check

A Carson City woman was arrested and faces a felony fraud charge after confessing to stealing her sister's Sally Mae student loan money after the two had gotten into an argument.

Mariena Acosta, 28, was booked into Carson City Jail on Oct. 4. She told authorities that she altered documents in order for a $2,326 check meant for her sister to go into a separate bank account. After the check was deposited, she went ahead and spent the money.

Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest reports for Tuesday

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday morning at the intersection of Russell and William streets. He faces misdemeanor charges of possessing drug paraphernalia, minor consuming and contempt of court.

He was arrested at 4:17 a.m. by Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies after attempting to enter a casino and being on Alternative Sentencing with a condition to obey all laws. He submitted to a breath alcohol test which indicated at .163. He also had in his possession a marijuana pipe. Bail: $1,879.

Carson City man jailed after officers find stolen laptop

A Carson City man faces a felony charge of possessing stolen property, a laptop computer, and five misdemeanors after he was arrested Sept. 14 in the 2800 block of Carmine Street.

Eduardo Reyes, 43, was jailed with bail at $27,469. According to the arrest report, officers went to the residence of the man who had a confirmed warrant out of Carson City Justice Court for obstructing and driving without a valid license.

Woman jailed for felony drug charge, driving on a revoked license

A 28-year-old Carson City woman faces a felony drug charge after she was arrested Sept. 12 at 10:08 p.m. in the area of Northridge and Roop streets.

Tosha Nicole Whiting was stopped by Carson City sheriff's Special Enforcement Team after deputies saw that she was driving without a license plate light during the hours of darkness.

Carson City man wanted for felony domestic battery found hiding in attic

A 50-year-old Carson City man, who hid from authorities in an attic, was arrested Sunday and faces a felony domestic battery charge with strangulation. William Elliott was arrested in the 1500 block of Rand at 7:26 p.m.

According to the arrest report officers responded to the Rand address for a report of a man brandishing a gun and possibly domestic battery. Officers spoke with the victim who stated she walked into her home and the locks were changed.

Carson City man faces felony credit card fraud charge

A Carson City man turned himself into Carson City Sheriff's Office authorities on Monday for a felony warrant of fraudulent use of a credit card.
Jeffrey Aguisanda, 30, had a warrant for his arrest out of Carson City Justice Court issued on August 9. Bail; $3,000.

In other arrests, Angela Rebecca Bowman of Mound House was booked into Carson City Jail on Monday. She faces two felonies charges that were under warrants: Failure to appear in court and violation of probation.

Pair jailed in Carson City after allegedly stealing purse, racking up credit card purchases

Two were arrested Sunday and face multiple felony charges including burglary after allegedly stealing a purse with a gun inside from underneath the counter of a Carson City business and then using credit cards to go on a buying spree.

Samantha Ann Henry, of Dresslerville, and David Elden Bennett of Markleeville, both 27, are being held on $105,200 bail each. The pair were discovered attempting to purchase items with one of the stolen credit cards at the Walmart store on Market Street.

Carson City man faces felony charge in domestic battery

A Carson City man was jailed early Tuesday morning following a domestic battery in which he allegedly prevented the victim from reporting the crime.

Amalio Pedro Montanes, 25, was arrested in the 3300 block of Pontius Place at 1:26 a.m. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the residence on a welfare check after dispatch received a call from a woman who gave an address and then disconnected.

Upon arrival officers met with the victim who stated she was upset with her boyfriend, identified a Montanes. The victim said he had come home drunk and wanted him to leave.

Sheriff: Reported crimes down in Carson City during event-filled weekend

With tens of thousands of people in Carson City last weekend for local events including Taste of DownTown, the Carson City Airport Open House and the Father's Day Powwow, law enforcement arrest records show a relatively quiet weekend.

"We had an excellent weekend and it goes to show that when there are positive family and community events happening around town, the amount of crimes reported falls very low from all points, north to south, east to west and downtown," said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Carson City man jailed after admitting to sexual assault

A 38-year-old Carson City man faces a felony sexual assault charge, admitting to investigators that he committed the crime against a 16-year-old girl.

Joaquin Canales-Montes is being held on $100,000 bail. He was arrested Tuesday after agreeing to a voluntary interview by Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators. The crime happened in the 3000 block of Airport Road around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, he told officers after he was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak.

Carson Now is withholding information to protect the victim.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies made several arrests this weekend, several for alcohol, drugs and battery-related offenses. Two of the arrests were were for felony DUI in which the drivers had two prior DUI convictions.

Carson City woman with stun gun in her purse jailed on felony drug charges

A 42-year-old Carson City woman was jailed Saturday and faces two felony drug charges and a charge of being a felon in possession of an electronic stun gun.

Patricia Louise Barkley, was arrested at 12:11 p.m. April 20 on East Nye. According to the arrest report, officers stopped a vehicle based on information that the owner faced a warrant for his arrest.

Third suspect in car chase in custody; found inside school bus at Carson High School

A manhunt ended at the Carson High School bus yard early Friday night with the arrest of a suspect believed to have intentionally rammed a Carson City Sheriff's patrol vehicle after a chase in a stolen car late Thursday.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies had been searching for the man since Thursday night and found him hiding inside a school bus in the vehicle maintenance yard of Carson High School. Edward Carol, 31, was taken into custody at 5:24 p.m.

Carson City sheriff's officers make several weekend felony drug, battery arrests

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies made numerous felony arrests over the weekend, mostly on drug and assault offenses. One arrest was for witness intimidation and threats allegedly made by an inmate in the city's jail, while another arrest was made after a man reportedly threw a wrench at a Jeep, smashing the window, while a 2-year-old was inside.

Carson City man jailed after attempting to steal shopping cart full of merchandise

An unemployed 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday and faces felony charges including burglary and possession of a dangerous weapon after attempting to steal 49 items valued at $741 from Walmart.

Anthony Wayne Harris was arrested in the 3200 block of Market Street at 11:01 p.m. According to the arrest report a cashier stopped the man after he was seen leaving the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise.

Carson City authorities make multiple weekend arrests

A 39-year-old Las Vegas man faces a felony burglary charge after allegedly clipping security tags off several items of clothing at a Carson City department store and putting them on underneath his clothes.

Anthony Abruzzo was arrested Feb. 17, 8:28 p.m. in the 3800 block of Carson Street after security from a local department store called authorities about the man was believed to be taking shoes.

Douglas authorities seek help in identifying man who attempted break-in at Walmart

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the man shown in the photo above and photos attached below, considered a person of interest in an attempted burglary early Tuesday morning at the Walmart Tire and Lube Center on Topsy Lane, in north Douglas County.

The incident occurred at 2:25 a.m., when the man tried to forcibly enter an exterior rear door at the shop, said Douglas County Sgt. Pat Brooks.

Carson City firefighters help children in need

Some Carson City firefighters traded in their fireman hats for Santa caps today to help out area children in need. The Carson City Firefighters Association went on a shopping spree at Walmart to buy toys for the Salvation Army Christmas Assistance Program.

Suspect detained in U.S. Bank robbery on Market Street in Carson City

6:24PM UPDATE: With a secured warrant, Carson City authorities have begun to look through the vehicle and home occupied by a man detained and being questioned about the U.S. Bank robbery on Market Street at around 3:30 this afternoon. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the man has not left the property, remains detained and is being questioned. The owner of the home, apparently the man's landlord, was also speaking with authorities.

Authorities are also said to be at the U.S. Bank site. Witnesses told authorities the man used a handgun in the robbery and left with money. An unconfirmed report via the police scanner early in the investigation was that the money was recovered near a trash bin.

Witnesses said the suspect was a white male, gray hair, in his 40s, wearing gloves and a hoodie.

UPDATE 5PM: Carson City authorities have detained a man and are now questioning him after a robbery this afternoon at the U.S. Bank on Market Street. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said that a vehicle description and license plate number were secured by witnesses to the robbery. The license came back to the home in the 1000 block of Washington street near Richmond.
The identification, after a wants and warrants search, came back to a man who had a previous conviction of armed robbery, said Furlong. The vehicle matching the description as the getaway truck was found inside the garage of the home and authorities obtained a search warrant to enter the home and the garage.

Update 4:30 p.m.: The suspect has been detained and is interviewed. A search warrant is being secured and deputies prepare to enter the house. Streets in the area remain blocked off.

4:15: Carson Sheriff SWAT team on the scene at a residence at Washington near Richmond where they believe the suspect of this afternoon's bank robbery is holed up. A witness gave deputies a description and license number of the truck that was seen leaving the bank. Deputies then responded to the residence where the truck was registered, and saw the truck inside the garage.

The U.S. Bank on Market Street in Carson City was robbed at 3:28 p.m., Monday. Authorities are responding to the bank, where the robber, described as a white male in his 40s, gray hair, wearing a hoodie and a mask, and rubber gloves robbed the bank of an undermined amount of money, using a handgun or possibly a semi-automatic weapon.
