Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include Polar Express train rides, Touched By Angels hosts a garden craft show on Saturday, a night photo shoot at the Nevada State museum, Rob Sherwood headlines the Carson Comedy Club at the Carson Nugget, 'Matilda the Musical' and more!

Carson City Chamber Singers begin rehearsals Tuesday

The Carson Chamber Singers, a performing group of the Carson City Symphony Association, will begin rehearsals on Tuesday, September 17, for their 35th season. Rehearsals are Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. under the direction of William Belcher at the Choral Room in Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.

V&T Railway holds auditions for 2019 Polar Express at Carson City Eastgate Depot

CARSON CITY — V&T Railway will hold auditions for the 2019 Polar Express season on Thursday, Sept. 5 and Friday, Sept. 6 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 7 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Eastgate Depot in Carson City. The railway is looking for actors, actresses and singers, age 13 and up to play roles from the popular movie including stewards and conductors, elves and Santa Claus.

Youth Theatre Carson City to hold workshop, auditions for 'Shrek: The Musical, Jr.'

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce auditions for "Shrek: The Musical, Jr." The show will run eight performances, January 17-26, 2020 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center. We are looking for actors, singers, and dancers grades K-12, who will be cast to play a host of colorful fractured fairytale characters!

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Arts Council announced Friday the awarding of more than $1 million in statewide grants to 172 recipients ranging from individual artists to nonprofit organizations and public institutions for the 2020 fiscal year.

Newsies the Musical: A reader review

On June 28th my wife and I where honored to go watch a musical, a musical that was filled with so much music, joy, sadness and most of hope. The singers did an amazing job of fulling the roles they where chosen for. The music that they sang and danced to was one of the hardest scores that has ever played on Broadway.

Here is the best part, the cast was made up by young adults, younger adults and small children. The name of the musical is called "Newsies" It is being performed by the Wild Horse Children's Theater of Carson City.

Local musicians rally to benefit services for Carson City’s homeless

Local musicians will bring their voices and talents to A to Zen to raise funds to help support services for Carson City’s homeless.

Singers, songwriters, musicians and more will play throughout the day on Saturday, March 30, 1 to 9:30 p.m.

Donations raised will benefit RCIL and The Do Drop In, a local nonprofit that provides a place for homeless residents to spend their time and receive important job and living resources.
