For 15 years, Mile High Jazz Band has been playing at Comma Coffee in Carson City on the second Tuesday of every month. Come celebrate this milestone with us on April 12, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Hear sensational big-band music with vocalist Cindee LeVal, and enjoy anniversary cake at intermission.

Consort Canzona, a select group of instrumentalists and singers that specializes in early music, has openings for experienced soprano, alto, and tenor recorder players for performances on May 21 and 22 in Carson City.

Carson Chamber Singers, conducted by Michael Langham will begin rehearsals on Tuesday, March 22, 16 6:30 p.m., at the Carson High School Choral Room, 1111 N. Saliman Road, in Carson City for a pair of concerts in May. This year the Singers are going to Broadway, with a line-up of favorite Broadway show tunes.

The Brewery Arts Center has Celtic duo Men of Worth playing in the Black Box Theater, folk singer/songwriter Liam Kyle Cahill is at Living the Good Life, you'll find the Whitehats performing at the West Side Pour House, and Sassafras has a night of rock with Year of the Fist and Double Header. The Carson High School Chamber Choir has been accepted to perform at the Anaheim Heritage Festival in southern California. They were very excited about the idea of performing in Disneyland. Once they were told of the costs of the trip you could see the dismay in many of their faces.

Got kids? The Boys and Girls Club is where you want to be today for the Second Annual Early Childhood Expo. Curious George and Clifford the big red dog can’t wait to say hello. The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1975 will bring to Carson City Winter Wine, Spirits and All That Jazz, an evening of wine, beer and spirit tasting, featuring the very best in art, music and entertainment that the area has to offer happening for the second year all over the campus of the Brewery Arts Center.

I’m a sucker for old movies. Give me some Garbo, Monroe, Gene Kelly, or comedic Danny Kay and I’m a happy girl. The Carson City Classic Cinema Club brings a different old movie to a big screen once a month and raises money to bring the arts to kids. Youth Theatre Carson City will hold auditions this Saturday for Disney’s "Alice in Wonderland, Jr." The show will run four performances, April 8-10 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

We are looking for actors, singers, and dancers grades K-12, who will be cast to play all the classic characters including Alice, The White Rabbit, The Mad Hatter, The Cheshire Cat, and of course, The evil Queen of Hearts – plus a host of other colorful characters.

It’s a living history kind of day with presentations all around. Head up to the Gold Hill Hotel for their weekly lecture series, but don’t forget to make a reservation. The Historical Society of Douglas County discusses the facts and fiction behind Lucky Bill at the Cultural Center and Museum in Gardnerville. The Nevada Division of the Pony Express Association keeps history alive and you are welcome to attend their monthly meeting at Grandma Hattie’s tonight. Pay homage to your favorite singers of yesteryear with karaoke at Living the Good Life or Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar.

While you’re there, head across the street to Browser’s Corner Book Store to check out the holiday offerings at their craft fair. ‘Break a leg’ to the talented students of Carson High Musical Theater: their Winter Ensemble Concert is at the Community Center tonight. Jazz and poetry return to Comma Coffee: the monthly performance of the Mile High Jazz Band begins at 7:30 p.m.

Youth Theatre Carson City will feature the upcoming production of "Yes, Virginia: The Musical," an exciting new holiday classic based on the Macy’s and NBC Holiday special of the same name.

"Yes, Virginia: The Musical" has been adapted specifically for children and families by Macy’s, in partnership with the Make-a-Wish Foundation. The show will run two performances, Dec. 19-20, 2015 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.
