Smoke from the Lowell Fire and Willow Fire will continue to impact Northern California and western Nevada through early Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. West winds will transition to northeast winds on Monday afternoon, allowing for areas of dense smoke to push west of the Sierra crest.

A man is dead after an officer involved shooting early Monday morning in South Lake Tahoe. Two South Lake Tahoe police officers responded at 2:40 a.m. to a suspicious circumstance call at Tahoe Hacienda Inn, in the 3800 block of Lake Tahoe Boulevard, said South Lake Tahoe Police Chief Brian Uhler.

There will be Civil War Re-enactments, Cowboy Mounted Shooting, Nevada Gunslingers gun fight re-enactment, and over 40 food, clothing and craft vendors with live music on Saturday and Sunday.

Admission is $5, $4 for seniors and military, $3 kids ages 13-17. Under 13 are admitted free.

Carson City Airport Announces 2015 Open House Event

With hopes of generating enthusiasm among young people and using themes of robotics, aviation and aerospace to do it, Carson City Airport's annual open house returns to the skies above the capital city on Saturday, June 20, after a year hiatus.

More than 6,000 visitors attended the event in 2013. This year’s open house, which runs from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., is free to the public. Activities will feature interactive displays, flybys, plane and helicopter demonstrations, robotics demonstrations, food and beverages, bounce house and many more family activities.

Jury finds Silver Springs man guilty of shooting at Lyon County Sheriff's Office deputy

After three days of trial, a jury found a 33-year-old Silver Springs man guilty of resisting a public officer with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon, both felonies.

Florencio Brito was found guilty May 21 at the conclusion of the Third Judicial District Court trial in Yerington. Orrin J.H. Johnson, Senior Deputy District Attorney, and Damian Sinnott, Deputy District Attorney, prosecuted the case for the Lyon County District Attorney.

Shootout coming to Capitol City Gun Club this Saturday

For the fourth year, the Capitol City Gun Club in Carson City will be among a handful of sites to host the California Youth Shotgun Shooting Association’s championship shootout. The 1,200 participants will compete at five venues in Northern California and Carson City from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2.
