Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region. The November Gobble Wine Walk kicks off in downtown Carson City followed by a new “Paths and Pedals” bike tour. Sierra Lutheran High School is also hosting a Christmas craft fair on Saturday. Combined with live music and virtual events, there’s plenty of activity happening in the state capital! For the second year, Nevada Day has its own brew to call its own, made at Carson City's own Shoe Tree Brewing Company.

Shoe Tree Brewing Co. was awarded Gold and Bronze medals at the 2020 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition, presented by the Brewers Association. The best beers in 91 beer categories covering 170 different beer styles (including all subcategories) were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals during a virtual ceremony Friday, October 16, hosted on The Brewing Network.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area. Fall-themed train rides from the Virginia Truckee Railroad Company and the Nevada State Railroad Museum will be available on Saturday and Sunday. A virtual “Light After Dark” fitness event will be held on Saturday to support the Carson City-based Advocated to End Domestic Violence program. Combined with plenty of food specials and live music, the state capital will be buzzing with excitement! Read on for more information.

Nevada’s open roads are beckoning travelers who have been home-bound since mid-March. At a time when 18 states currently won’t accept Nevadans unless they quarantine for two weeks, it’s tempting to hop in the family car and explore Nevada history and nature giving you the opportunity to escape the tedium caused by the pandemic and to temper your wanderlust.

UPDATE MONDAY: The Carson City Fire Department responded to assist Truckee Meadows Fire on the #NorthFire. As of Monday morning the fire has burned 3,000 acres and is 0 percent contained. Firefighters worked throughout the night battling this blaze and are back on the fire line this morning, according to CCFD.

Fires burning in the northern California region, including a new fire north of Highway 395 near Hallelujah Junction in Lassen County, Calif., has produced smoky skies throughout much of western Nevada, including Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas.

While Phase 2 is allowing for more businesses to open, the language of the mandate is leaving some businesses confused, while others have already begun planning their reopening this weekend.

Heading into the middle of the work work, activities around town include a yoga class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, a midweek meditation series offered at Carson City Yoga, conversational Spanish classes at Partnership Carson City, Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, a presentation of "Valiant Women of The Vote" Mix and Mingle honoring the 19th Amendment at the Governor's Mansion, Ladies Night at Bella Vita Bistro, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women and much more. It is one thing to study history; it is another witness it. Visitors to the Nevada State Museum in Carson City this Tuesday, Feb. 4, will find themselves in history’s front row as the museum celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint. Just as it did 150 years earlier to the day, the Mint’s Coin Press No. 1 will be pressing silver coins, complete with the famous “CC” mint mark.

This Nevada Day, the GreenUP initiative made its debut in order to help Carson City get a little more green — especially along the parade route.

As we head into the final stretch of the week, events around the Carson City region are lined up for the next three days, including museum activities, outdoor concerts, a car cruise Friday at Carson Mall, athletic events, a Carson High School class of 1979 reunion, the Taste of Downtown on Saturday and much more.

The Fifth Annual Sassabration, Carson City’s Pride event and fundraiser, was held Saturday at Sassafras along with Shoe Tree Brewing Co. and the Carson City Hot Springs.

The day began with a parade beginning at the Brewery Arts Center and ending at Sassafras. Vendors, entertainers, musicians and attendees gathered in the heat of another hot desert summer day to raise funds for a great cause.

Shoe Tree Brewing Co. in Carson City received two Bronze Medals at the U.S Open Beer Championship held in Oxford, Ohio. Breweries from Russia to Rhode Island sent in more than 7,000 beers representing over 130 different styles for the 2019 U.S. Open Beer Championship.
