Senator Square: Carson High students get into holiday giving spirit; Homeroom support on Mondays

November Wine Walk, bike tour, craft fair and more highlight weekend events around Carson City

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region. The November Gobble Wine Walk kicks off in downtown Carson City followed by a new “Paths and Pedals” bike tour. Sierra Lutheran High School is also hosting a Christmas craft fair on Saturday. Combined with live music and virtual events, there’s plenty of activity happening in the state capital! For the second year, Nevada Day has its own brew to call its own, made at Carson City's own Shoe Tree Brewing Company.

Shoe Tree Brewing Co. was awarded Gold and Bronze medals at the 2020 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition, presented by the Brewers Association. The best beers in 91 beer categories covering 170 different beer styles (including all subcategories) were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals during a virtual ceremony Friday, October 16, hosted on The Brewing Network.

Fall train rides, 'Light after Dark' fitness event, live music and more highlight Carson City area weekend events

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area. Fall-themed train rides from the Virginia Truckee Railroad Company and the Nevada State Railroad Museum will be available on Saturday and Sunday. A virtual “Light After Dark” fitness event will be held on Saturday to support the Carson City-based Advocated to End Domestic Violence program. Fire shuts down US 395 at Hallelujah Junction, smoke lingers throughout western Nevada

UPDATE MONDAY: The Carson City Fire Department responded to assist Truckee Meadows Fire on the #NorthFire. As of Monday morning the fire has burned 3,000 acres and is 0 percent contained. Firefighters worked throughout the night battling this blaze and are back on the fire line this morning, according to CCFD.

The Fifth Annual Sassabration, Carson City’s Pride event and fundraiser, was held Saturday at Sassafras along with Shoe Tree Brewing Co. and the Carson City Hot Springs.

The day began with a parade beginning at the Brewery Arts Center and ending at Sassafras. Vendors, entertainers, musicians and attendees gathered in the heat of another hot desert summer day to raise funds for a great cause.
