Several leading residents of Carson City pooled their resources Sunday to treat local public service workers to a barbecue at Fuji Park.

If you happen to be up very early on Saturday morning, you may just see some runners in the pre-dawn hours. The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, a 178 mile relay, passes through Carson City on its way to Virginia City. A huge congratulations goes out to the Class of 2017; the Carson High graduates will get their diplomas today. A grand opening celebration for the new Shoe Tree Brewing Company, located next door to Carson Hot Springs Resort, has been scheduled for June 17 from noon to 10 p.m. at 1496 Old Hot Springs Road in Carson City.

The tasting room inside the all-new Shoe Tree Brewing Company at 1496 Old Hot Springs Road was packed Saturday as patrons celebrated the long-awaited opening of the region's newest and most highly anticipated brewery.

A soft open house for family and friends was held Friday evening at the all-new Shoe Tree Brewing Company, one day ahead of a public soft opening set for Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m., owners Jeff and Paul Young said Friday.

Excitement surrounding the new Shoe Tree Brewing Company in Carson City has been building all summer long as brothers Jeff and Paul Young have been working to complete their new brewing facility and tasting room located on the Carson Hot Springs Resort property.

The second annual Sassabration Festival, sponsored and organized by Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint, kicked off this morning at 11 a.m. with a parade of bicycles, whose riders left the Brewery Arts Center on King Street and paraded to the Carson Hot Springs Resort on Old Hot Springs Road in Northeast Carson City.

A sign at the front entrance to Carson Hot Springs Resort notifies customers of construction noise, but that doesn't seem to bother patrons of the mineral pools, Resort Manager Keith Shellhamer said.

Brewfest returned to Carson City Saturday on Curry Street as hundreds turned out to sample the best beers and brews from across the country.

If the shoe fits, then wear it.

For brothers Jeff and Paul Young of Carson City, becoming professional brewers just seemed to fit like the right pair of sneakers.

Their company, the Shoe Tree Brewing Company, is scheduled to break ground on its roughly 2,000 square-foot brewery and retail space Monday on the Carson Hot Springs Resort property located at 1500 Old Hot Springs Road in Carson City.

This may be one of the worst acts of senseless vandalism I've ever seen. Or, maybe someone really wanted a pair of shoes.
