It’s hard to believe that it’s already the middle of July, and the Nevada Fair at Fuji will be upon us in no time. Head over to the Carson Visitor Center by the Museum and pick up a discounted pass for the Carnival: just $20 for a day of unlimited rides. Take a look at the list of things to do for some fun options tonight: music, dancing, karaoke. There is a special symposium at the Brewery Arts Center featuring speakers and experts on the transgender community that will be ready for your questions.

Enjoy Christmas in July with the Friends of the Carson Library’s Food Drive. A non-perishable food donation gets you a Christmas book and a coupon for a dollar off at Browser’s Corner Book Store. Make sure to get your pizza fix at Pizza Factory on Highway 50. It’s Pop Warner Day, so any purchase will send a few dollars to the boys and girls involved in the program.

Harrison Ford, Patrick Stewart, and Cheech Marin get to claim the day as their birthday. So does Cameron Crowe: screenwriter of movie favorites like Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Say Anything, and Jerry Maquire. Speaking of Hollywood, make sure to get your tickets to the Carson City Classic Cinema Club’s First Annual Hollywood Gala Dinner and Fundraiser coming up on Saturday. The theme is the first Academy Awards, so pull out all the stops for the red carpet. More information here.

Stick around for a concert in the park featuring Dougie L. and the Lost Reverends, but you’ll want to bring a blanket or lawn chair. Chili and Salsa are still at Glen Eagles, so you have a second chance to pick a favorite. It’s your last chance to catch Senior Follies at the Community Center, and the Proscenium Players have a matinee of ‘Murder in an English Manor’ this afternoon, as well.

Carson City sheriff’s log: Man with drugs in underwear faces trafficking charge

The annual Chili Cook-off and Craft Fair hits Glen Eagles this weekend, and there will be plenty to sample. If you need something cold to drink, head to 7-ELEVEN for a free small slushee from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. in celebration of Seven Eleven Day. The Farmers Market is always a good bet on Saturday mornings for sampling all the yummy stuff that grows nearby.

Break a leg to the Proscenium Players as they open Murder in an English Manor at the Brewery Arts Center. Senior Follies debuts this year’s performance, Flashback, at the Community Center.

Submitted by editor on Mon, 07/06/2015 - 3:29pmThe Nevada Fair will have a limited number of prepaid parking passes. There are only 100 passes available. Prepaid reserved parking passes go on sale Tuesday, July 7. They are $20 for one vehicle for all 4 days of the fair.
There is a limited number of 100 passes available, on a first come first serve basis. They are available at the Carson City Treasurer's Office located in City Hall at 201 N. Carson Street.
Carson City sheriff's SET team shuts down marijuana grow operation

Battleborn Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly features the Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge, vendors, a brewfest, moustache competition and more. The Karson Kruzers are hosting their annual car show at Fuji Park, but will be making their way downtown after it’s over, so there will be plenty of cool cars to admire. Mojo Green takes the stage at 7 p.m. and you can head into the Carson Cigar Company to enjoy Reno’s newest Pink Floyd Tribute Band, Scarlett Moon at 9 p.m.

Four jailed after Carson City sheriff’s drug teams bust large meth sales operation
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 06/26/2015 - 11:18amA traffic stop in Carson City on Thursday led to the discovery a large amount of methamphetamine and led police to an Imperial Way apartment where more meth and other drugs were found, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Four people were arrested on felony drug trafficking charges, 42 grams of methamphetamine was seized as well as pills, drug paraphernalia and cash.
Alcohol ban remains in effect at Lake Tahoe's Nevada Beach over July 4, fireworks outlawed

Persons found in violation of the fireworks ordinance face criminal penalties, including a fine of up to $1,000 and/or confinement in the county jail for a period of up to six months.

Carson City caretaker jailed after allegedly burglarizing home of disabled former client
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 06/19/2015 - 10:28amA 40-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday on felony charges of burglary of an elderly person and drug sales after allegedly breaking into the home of a disabled 75-year-old man whom she had previously worked for as a caretaker, stealing his cash, coins and firearms from a bedroom safe, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
