Carson City Fire Department and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called Wednesday around 5:45 p.m. to a two vehicle traffic accident in the westbound lane of College Parkway east of the I-580 overpass, according to dispatch.

A 69-year-old Reno man died in a crash that happened Wednesday afternoon south of Gardnerville on Highway 395, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Following damaging winds and flood waters in the Carson Valley that left power lines down and roads covered with standing water, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners has declared a state of emergency, the Douglas County Joint Information Center said in a press release Saturday.

Highway 395, the main artery between Carson City and Douglas County has reopened, partially, this Saturday morning with 1 lane opened for northbound traffic and 1 lane opened for southbound traffic, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Two boulders came down onto Highway 50 in the Logan Creek area of Lake Tahoe again on Tuesday, close to the same exact area as Monday's large boulder slide.

No vehicles were involved and there were no injuries. The first one happened earlier this morning and was removed. The second boulder dropped into the road shortly before noon. According to the Nevada Highway Patrol as of 12:22 p.m., the eastbound lane is blocked. Traffic is being routed using the westbound lane.

UPDATE 3:13PM: The incident, initially reported to dispatch as a “carjacking” involved two people who recently met and decided to go to Reno together, said Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Bernadette Smith. They got into an argument at the top of Spooner on Highway 50. One was pushed out of the vehicle, got tangled up in the car and received road rash. The other was stopped in Carson City and detained. The person pushed out of the vehicle refused medical treatment. Neither wished to file charges against either other.

UPDATE 1:40PM: The Nevada Department of Transportation has removed the large boulder that fell this morning, blocking one eastbound lane of U.S. 50 in Lake Tahoe. No vehicles were involved in the slide, and no injuries were reported.

A 39-year-old Fernley man was sentenced to prison for his actions following an August 2016 high speed chase in Fernley where he rammed his vehicle into patrols cars.

A toddler injured in a three-vehicle motor vehicle accident at Johnson Lane and U.S. Highway 395 in the Carson Valley on Tuesday, Jan. 17 has died, the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) reports.

UPDATE 4:52 PM: The suspect in Thursday morning's vehicle pursuit has been identified as Tyrone Preciado, 36. He was booked into Washoe County Jail on charges of DUI, domestic battery, violation of special speed limitations and disobeying an officer.

The Nevada Highway Patrol led a vehicle pursuit Thursday morning that ended north of Carson City with the suspect jumping out of the vehicle and fleeing on foot before being captured near the old Highway 395 exit.

With a new storm blowing into the Carson City region this morning bringing rain and heavy winds and blizzard conditions in the Sierra, motorists can expect delays from Washoe Valley to Carson Valley.

The Carson City Emergency Operations Center will close its operation at approximately 5 p.m. today. Damage assessment teams will continue their work through the week.
The National Weather Service states that snow is expected later tonight in the Carson City area, with the possibility of periods of heavy snow. We encourage drivers to exercise caution as road conditions can become dangerous.

Emergency crews responded early Saturday night to a two vehicle crash on Highway 395 in Douglas County near the Silver City RV Park south of Carson City, which briefly closed the northbound lane.

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called this morning to a two-vehicle crash in the northbound lane of I-580 near Lakeview Hill.

A crash Tuesday morning in the Stagecoach area near Silver Springs sent two to the hospital via CareFlight with non-life threatening injuries, a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper said.
