The Rotary Club of Carson City and High Sierra Brewing Company presents the Beer and Pizza Championships, March 31 at Carson Mall.

Come and taste the best beer and pizza in the region, and vote for your favorite. You can also enjoy the Final Four on TV at the same time, or take part in basketball shooting contests. There will be a live auction for trips and events, a silent auction for great local gifts, and a drawing for a Samuel Adams trip to Boston.

If you’re a fisherman or fisherwoman, it’s that time of the year to remind you to purchase your new Nevada 2012-2013 fishing license.
That new fishing license year began on March 01 and it will run through the last day in February, 2013.
As a special tip you would be well advised to purchase that new license ASAP, because if you forget, go fishing and get checked by “The Friendly Old Game Warden,” he isn’t going to be very happy nor will you.

People First of Nevada is a self-advocacy group run by people with developmental differences throughout Nevada. As citizens of Nevada, we have the right to make our own decisions and to live self-determined lives.

CARSON CITY, NEVADA-Carson City Library and Nevada Legal Services have teamed together to provide free legal educational clinics and workshops every 4th Thursday, of each month. The next clinic is scheduled on Thursday, March 22nd. The 1:00 workshop will provide general instructions and assistance regarding the completion of self-help forms for those who are self-represented litigants. A Notary Public will also be available. Following the self-help workshop, a free legal education clinic will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Family Law Education will be the topic covered on the 22nd.

CARSON CITY – Many Nevada employers will see a small increase in the premiums they pay for workers’ compensation insurance in 2012.

High Sierra Swing Dance Club offers a free, two-hour lesson in basic West Coast swing at its monthly dance party March 24 at the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St., Carson City. Tim Renner and Donna Ewing offer the free lesson from 6-8 p.m., followed by a social dance to practice your new skills from 8-10:30 p.m. Partners are not required. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency will conduct travel surveys with visitors and residents at several recreational and commercial locations throughout the Basin beginning this Friday, February 24. The interviewing, to be carried out by a professional survey research company, is scheduled to take place through Sunday, March 4. Surveyors will wear badges while patrolling survey sites. Results from the Travel Mode Survey will be used to track the success of and help plan multi-modal travel options around Lake Tahoe.

Navy League Carson City Council Meeting. 5:30PM- 8:30PM, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino, 2171 Hwy 50 East, Carson City. The social hour is at 5:30PM, followed by a buffet dinner at 6:30PM. Speaker for the evening will be Associate Chief Justice of the Nevada State Supreme Court, Michael A. Cherry. Justice Cherry will talk about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PSTD) and related legal issues facing our military member when they return home.

The Carson City Sheriff's Department will be hosting a business academy beginning April 4, 2012 at 6 p.m. and running for six weeks. The course will be taking place in the Ormsby Room of the Carson City Sheriff's Office (911 E. Musser St.).

The aim of the class is to teach business owners and managers about the functions and workings of the sheriff's department as pertains to businesses. It is especially recommended to businesses in the casino, liquor, pawn, retail, restaurant, and auto repair industries.
