Healthy Communities hosts breakfast meeting Thursday in Silver Springs

Guest speakers include Ashle Doran, who will give a presentation on Comstock Youth Works' successful summer job skills and paid internship program for teens throughout Lyon County.

Lions Club kicks off its annual “White Cane Days” Saturday and Sunday in Carson City to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws, and collect used eyeglasses for distribution to those in need. Local business Wizard of Pawz grooming salon hosts a socially-distanced grand opening on Saturday afternoon, followed by a pool tournament at Bulldog Billiards at 6 p.m. Combined with live music and karaoke, the state capitol will be packed with excitement! I just returned from Orange, Virginia from a conference held at Montpelier, former US President James Madison's estate. I was chosen among applicants to attend this conference because I think our community needs to know the cool educational opportunities in which teachers are embarking. The conference covered “Gender, Sexual Identity, and the Constitution.”

USDA partners to provide transitional housing for rural people in recovery from opioid misuse
