Anticipation of graduation and trepidation about the future are the thoughts running through the veins of the Carson High School Class of 2019 as they contemplate walking onto the football field as high school seniors and bouncing off the football field as CHS graduates looking forward to the new places and faces of tomorrow.

Good morning Carson City and happy Saturday! It’s going to be another grey day, with a high of 64 and a low of 44. But hey, it could be freezing, or things could be on fire, so I won’t complain! As we head into a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, activities and events around Carson City on Friday will help set the mood for what promises to be a tremendous few days ahead. Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.

Good morning Carson City! It's going to be another beautiful day in the capital city, with highs of 78 and lows of 44. On the docket today we've got a canned food drive to help the Ron Wood Center, a volunteer day to restore the Mills Park train, a Mother's Day Plant Sale, and more! Here's what we've got going on for Saturday:

The weekend is at our doorstep as we head into Friday, May 10, 2019. Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

Headed into Saturday, April 27, 2019 we're looking at another picture-perfect spring weather day and cool overnight temperatures. There's lots of activities ahead, including a colorful fun run at Mills Park, a free paper and document recycling event hosted by Debug Computer, a prescription drug roundup, the Silver State's own celebration of the Aloha State, a Carson High School speech team fundraiser at Flavors of India, art showings and sales and a fundraiser at Flat Earth Pizza for a wonderful Carson City woman who is in the throes of cancer. The CHS teacher of the year is Astronomy, Honors Physics, and head CHS Freshman Football Coach James Bean Jr. Born in Okinawa, Japan where his dad, a Marine, met his mother, Bean moved back to the US when he was 4-years-old.

Northern Nevada Lecturer Mike Thomas has rescheduled his “Future War” presentation for Saturday, March 9 at Western Nevada College’s Jack C. Davis Observatory in Carson City. Friday will feature a discussion on "Myths and Legends."

This weekend calls for a celebration, because the first Saturday of March is upon us and that means the Carson City Downtown Business Association Wine Walk come rain, snow, wind or shine. And get this: Today's Wine Walk is the last one before Spring.

"Winterflix," a play on the popular Netflix streaming service, was the theme this year at the 2019 Winterfest week at CHS with dress-up days and night-time activities all week long. Some of the events included the Netflix show, "Stranger Things," a Twins Day, "Riverdale," "The Office," and even the ever popular once-a-month Dress for Success competition.

Well, Carson City, here we are at the end of another work week. And if you love to play in the snow on weekends, then there's good news on its way.

A chance for more white stuff is in the forecast for our area starting later Friday afternoon through Sunday.

As for today, there's a number of activities around town including a blood drive, networking opportunities, El Dia De Los Muertos celebration at WNC, an afternoon hike, a movie showing at the Jack C. Davis Observatory, art displays and more.

It's parade day in Carson City, which means a host of Nevada Day activities throughout the state capital all day long.
