The Carson City Office of Nevada JobConnect is hosting the Carson City Fall Job Fair on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition, the Carson City Nugget will be hosting a Job Fair on the same day, October 29, beginning at 2 p.m.

Positions include both experienced and entry-level positions for employers in manufacturing, security, construction, and other industries. See below for all of the offerings from the Nugget.

I was in yoga class this morning and the key idea was trust. As I moved and stretched, I remembered to trust my body and trust myself to go only as far as I could go. As a communication consultant, I start thinking about this as it relates to leadership. Trust, consistency, and communication all play a major role in relationships. More than 50 animal shelters and rescue groups participated in Nevada’s large free pet adoption event, Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days. It was organized by Maddie's Pet Project in Nevada, a three-year campaign aimed at helping more homeless cats and dogs find good homes and creating a safety net for pets by improving access to veterinary care in the Silver State.

The 2019 Polar Express is inviting a limited number of Carson City area youth groups and organizations in the community to be a part of The Polar Express experience by portraying elves at the North Pole each year. For every night the group provides the required amount of elves, chaperones and works all three trains we will donate $100 to the groups for every night they perform.

National Honor Society held its induction ceremony Sept. 23 in the CHS Big Gym featuring guest speaker Ryan Costella a 2000 CHS graduate. Costella was an active member of NHS, and this fact influenced his desire to attend college at Villanova University in Philadelphia, PA where he earned degrees in Political Science and English.

Joe D’Angelo says he has spent the majority his life helping people. After several failed attempts to bring large-scale community projects to different cities in Nevada, he has now set his sights on Carson City to make his “Joshua’s Community” dreams come to life with the purchase of the Ormsby House.

Hello Carson City! I’ve been a little out of pocket since Burning Man. I have three sicknesses just pile on: playa lung, a head cold, and I wrapped the whole thing up with bronchitis. Doing life sick was pretty hard. But I found it was made possible by the number of times businesses in this area stepped up and said yes.

Over sixty volunteers showed up early Saturday morning to help Gabe Crossman, a 17-year-old senior at Carson High School and member of Troop 45, restore the “C” on C-Hill for his Eagle Scout and Senior Projects.

Laps for Lungs fundraiser at Carson City BMX Track (1555 Livermore Lane, Carson City) will take place Friday September 13th, 2019 from 6 - 7:30pm. There is a $5.00 donation asked for the fundraiser. (Regular Racing Fees apply for the night).

For each lap you ride during practice, a ticket will be placed into a jar for the drawing. The more laps you ride the more chances to win!

Carson City Library announced Tuesday that it has been selected by the American Library Association and Public Library Association to receive funding to empower Carson City job seekers with digital skills using Grow With Google and a partnership with JOIN Inc.

If you could rename the seasons in Northern Nevada, it might go something like this. Ski Season, Construction Season, Burning Man, and Nevada Day. Burning Man season is here! Soon you will start seeing art cars, buses, RVs, bike racks galore, and those people who call themselves Burners.

Carson High School Principal Gavin Ward stood at the north entrance high-fiving students as they entered high school, some of them for the first time. This week, I got into a rousing text conversation about feeling imprisoned. We spoke about obligations, duty, and ultimately — the choices that led up to those imprisonments. Prison isn’t just a place for criminals to go to pay their retribution to society. We can create prisons for ourselves and not even know it.

Kathryn McCool, executive director of Reciprocity Inc., will be the featured speaker at Monday’s Carson City Democratic luncheon. As Senior Program Officer at the State Department of Corrections, she has managed the re-entry program at the Southern Desert Correctional Center in Indian Springs since April of 2013. This week, I am traveling to see my family in Texas. Whenever I go back to my roots, I’m always reminded of the deep seedlings that exist here for me. These seedlings are connections made during my formative years, all the way back to kindergarten.
