The Timeless Design of JoAnn F. Axford featured at Vasefinder Museum inside Charlie B Gallery
Initially, I collected many of the Arts and Crafts as well as WPA Art Deco Era American pottery makers in clay before focusing on the American Studio Pottery Movement. And from my collecting, I have always sought examples that have a timeless design.
JoAnn F. Axford of Glenmont, New York seeks inspiration from the past to create her modern masterpieces in clay. Several years ago, I found JoAnn's Junco bird design through one of her galleries.
Its ability to fit in a bungalow, Art Deco or modernist home decor makes this slip cast form in porcelain a special object in the Vasefinder Museum. The public has told me so over and over as I build this humble ceramic museum in the Nevada capital.
With the opening of the Vasefinder Museum on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019 from 6pm to 9pm, I will have 12 of the birds available for purchase. They come in the following designs of Tufted Titmouse, Wren and Junco as featured in the photograph from left to right.
The opening of the Vasefinder Museum will be at the Charlie B Gallery location of 114 West Telegraph Street, Carson City, Nev. We will be serving sushi from National's Cafe as well as light refreshments. I hope to see you there!
