Reno Phil Selected Pieces Focus on Military Battles and Victories

Military-inspired compositions and young talent are the focus of the Reno Phil’s Classix Three, set for Jan. 15 and Jan. 17, 2017 at the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts. Featured guest artists and Davidson Fellows Simone Porter, violin, and Nathan Chan, cello, perform Brahms Double Concerto for Violin and Cello in A minor, op. 102. The long-time friendship between these two young prodigies is evident during performances.

Nevada job growth ranks sixth in the nation

As of the second quarter of 2016, Nevada has the sixth fastest growing private sector in the nation with a growth rate of 3.2 percent, according to figures released Tuesday by the state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

Christmas Tree Lighting Festival today in Dayton

Kids won’t want to miss the Santa Train at the State Railroad Museum or one of the two performances of ‘The Peanutcracker’ at the Community Center. Whether you’d like to spend the days indoors or out, there is something for all ages in the Carson City area this weekend.

V&T Railroad partners with community college to transform Carson City train station

The Virginia & Truckee Railroad has partnered with an architectural design class at Truckee Meadows Community College for a conceptual redesign of the V&T’s depot in Carson City. The project provided an opportunity for 16 students to take their imaginations inside the classroom out to the community – in this case for ideas to transform the current depot into a memorable train station.

Nevada State Museum's history begins with U.S Carson City Mint

Carson City Parks & Recreation Easy Walk- Historical East Side

Meet in front of the Capitol Building. If it rains or snows, meet at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center (MAC) at 1860 Russell Way.

Easy Walk Program: Water and closed-toed shoes required.

Walks of 1 to 2 miles in length with none or negligible elevation gain, and frequently paved or smooth paths. The walks will usually be of approximately one hour in duration.

Haunted Hayride Celebrates Dayton History

On Thursday, October 27 bring your family and friends to the annual Haunted Hayride of the Historical Society of Dayton Valley. This free event is our "give-back" to the community and celebrates Dayton history in a fun, family-friendly evening. Continuous old-fashioned hayrides will circle through an Old Town Dayton filled with ghosts of the past, all of whom share a lighthearted attitude toward their history. The evening starts at the museum, where there will also be games for the kids and light refreshments. Costumes are encouraged and kids from 0 to 102 are invited!
