Unfortunately, it could make for soggy feet if you’ve got any outdoor activities planned. Lucky for us, plenty of fun can be found indoors. Hit the Carson Mall for Cowgirls and Lipstick or learn about rare coins at the Nevada State Museum. Meet author Joe Crowley at Browsers' Corner Book Store or read to therapy dogs at the Carson City Library. There's something for everyone on this list, so take a look and have a great weekend, Carson City.

Carson City scavenger hunt among events statewide to mark 50th year of National Preservation Act

This year, the theme acknowledges the 50th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act, which helps to stabilize neighborhoods and downtowns, contributes to public education, attracts investment, creates jobs, generates tax revenues, supports small business and affordable housing, and powers Nevada’s heritage tourism industry.

A tour of our Historical west side will give you a new perspective on some of the neat old houses we have around downtown. If you get hungry, it’s hard to go wrong with all you can eat wings at Firkin and Fox; they’ve set up new patio seating on the south side while their Third Street patio gets rebuilt. Lunch or dinner at Chili’s will help the homeless pets that Nevada Humane Society serves.

Now they can add construction to the list of things that won’t get in the way of this fun monthly event. Saturday, April 2, go see for yourself what new things are breaking ground in the downtown corridor and enjoy some wine, nibbles, and entertainment while you’re there.
Applications being accepted for Carson City redevelopment facade improvement grants
Submitted by editor on Fri, 04/01/2016 - 10:47amThe Carson City Redevelopment Authority is offering grants of up to $25,000 to improve the exterior façades of commercial buildings within the Redevelopment District. The grant can be used to make improvements to the exterior of existing commercial buildings, including signs. The grant requires the property owner to pay at least half the cost of the improvements. A total of $200,000 has been allocated to the program.
Sierra Nevada snowpack not miraculous despite March precipitation
Submitted by editor on Wed, 03/30/2016 - 1:52pmMarch precipitation in the Sierra Nevada was impressive, with more than 16 inches in water content, nearly two and one-half times the month’s average. Though the amount is encouraging, the snowpack hasn’t kept pace, as demonstrated Wednesday at a California Department of Water Resources snow survey in the Sierra above Lake Tahoe.

Be aware of the kids making their way to school, whether it be on foot, by bike, scooter, or skateboard. A walk along the Wellness Trail is a good way to break up the work week. Crossroads Lounge on Winne Lane is under new ownership and has just brought karaoke favorites ‘J and M Productions’ onboard Wednesday nights. Jazz and so much more is on the menu at Living the Good Life: drinks, dinner, and a show are waiting.

UNR unveils digital collection showcasing Paul Laxalt and Ronald Reagan friendship

Several crafters, vendors, and shops make it easy to find something unique. The annual Feast of Chocolate returns to the Plaza Event Center; raising funds for scholarships has never tasted so good.

Visitors Bureau: Carson City lodging room revenues increase $2 million over two years

“That means we’re seeing lots of people visiting Carson City,” Joel Dunn, executive director of the Carson City Visitors Bureau told his board Monday evening. “They’re spending money and driving our economy.”
