Motorcyclist killed on Highway 50 east of Silver Springs
At approximately 9:30 PM, 06/07/12, a fatal traffic accident occurred on US 50 between Silver Springs and Fallon, Nevada near mile marker LY33.
Preliminary investigation of the accident revealed that a 40 year old white male from Fallon, NV was riding his 2006 Black in color Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on US 50 near mile marker LY33. The motorcycle left the south paved portion of the roadway and the motorcycle struck the south guardrail face. The motorcycle continued eastbound, overturned and ejected the driver. The driver of the motorcycle came to rest in the westbound travel lane of US 50. The motorcycle continued northeast and struck the north guardrail face and continued eastbound coming to rest against the north guardrail approximately 1/4 mile east of the driver. Shortly thereafter, an unidentified vehicle traveling westbound on US 50, ran over the driver of the motorcycle. The Lyon County Deputy Coroner pronounced the driver as being deceased at the scene.
There is no evidence of alcohol involvement in this accident.
The name of the driver of the motorcycle has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
