The annual Holiday Craft Fair at Carson High features a plethora of handmade and locally crafted gifts for the loved ones on your shopping list. Take the plunge at the Carson Aquatic Center if you want to get a picture with Scuba Santa. Grab a coat, some friends, and your ID and head downtown for this month’s beer crawl. $15 gets you a glass and your first beer, from there you’ll pay only $1 for refills at several watering holes. The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City has set the dates for its 33rd year of Santa Train and for the second consecutive year, it will be offering special free Santa Trains exclusively for children battling cancer.

An old-fashioned “Holiday Open House” returns to Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park Saturday, December 9 and 16 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm both days.

The exhibit includes toys from the 1870s through the 1890s that were played with by Fred Dangberg, Jr., and his siblings, as well as numerous toys enjoyed by Fred’s five children and one grandson from the 1900s through the 1940s.

Tiffani’s 5th annual Sealed Toy Drive has commenced with 17 drop off locations in and around Carson City. The "sealed" toy drive allows hospitalized children who have to stay in their room, or are unable to play with used toys, a chance to receive a small gift basket of toys and games to play with over the holidays.

Although Veterans Day was observed yesterday, there are several things today that honor our former members of the military. Battle Born Harley Davidson is throwing an appreciation party complete with food trucks. Virginia City’s annual Veterans Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. and the City of Reno will commence their parade after a short ceremony beginning at 11:11 a.m. You’ll find an abundance of craft fairs in Carson City, Carson Valley, and Dayton. The Carson City Senior Center presented a salute to Carson City veterans Thursday. The program featured Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell and members of the Carson High School JROTC representing each branch of the United States Military.

Carson City firefighters donated nearly 200 brand new coats on Monday to students in need. Carson City School District’s McKinney-Vento Students in Transition helped identify those students who are most in need. Students in Transition are individuals who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence.

The Dharma Zephyr Insight Meditation Community is happy to announce the new Carson Teen Meditation Group. The first meeting will be Wednesday November 15th at 3:00pm.

This group is open on a Drop-In basis to local teens who would like to learn and practice meditation.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in downtown Carson City at Telegraph and Division streets offers its annual Holiday Bazaar with decorated shopping areas inside the historic 150-year-old church and serving as a beginning to the holiday season for shoppers and visitors alike.

CARSON CITY — Less than a month from opening night, The Polar Express Train Ride is on its way to another sold out season. Art doll maker Christine Shively-Benjamin of Carson City will be among thirty artists from Northern Nevada featured at the 23th annual Reno Artisan Show and Sale Nov. 3 and 4 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Admission is free and 20 pieces of original art will be given away.

Western Nevada College and Greater Nevada Credit Union will present the next new driver education class on Saturdays, Oct. 14 through Nov. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the Carson City campus.
