Carson City firefighters help keep students warm with nearly 200 new winter coats
Carson City firefighters donated nearly 200 brand new coats on Monday to students in need. Carson City School District’s McKinney-Vento Students in Transition helped identify those students who are most in need. Students in Transition are individuals who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence.
"Having a brand new, high quality coat enhances a child's well-being, builds self-esteem and generates a feeling of worth for children, especially for those living in poverty," said Dan Davis, public information officer for the Carson City School District. "We are so grateful for such timely gifts as the weather turns colder. These firefighters and those who helped make this possible attests to the gracious and caring community here in Carson City."
