Rummage sale fundraiser Saturday to help Cliff Bros Ranch lost in Little Valley Fire

There will be a rummage sale Saturday, Oct. 22 at Fremont Elementary School in Carson City with proceeds to assist the Cliff Bros Ranch in Washoe County that was destroyed in the Little Valley Fire.

School community dedicates Robin Ross Library and Reading Cove at Fremont Elementary

On Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, Robin’s family, School Board trustees, staff members from throughout the district, retirees, and Fremont families met for the formal dedication of the Robin Ross Library.

Ms. Ross was a classroom teacher and literacy coach at Fremont Elementary for over 20 years. When she passed away last year after a lengthy illness, the staff and her retired colleagues wished to honor her memory.

Monday, May 2 is the opening day for the Carson City NFL Flag Football League. Youngsters 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 will be competing Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights at Fremont Elementary School throughout the month of May. Participating teams are the Packers, 49ers, Seahawks and Saints.

As president of Fremont Elementary School’s parent-teacher association, Becky McGee shoulders a lot of responsibility. But she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“The kids make it worth it,” she said. “They way they all run up and get excited when they see me because they know something fun is going to happen.”

Carson City Library, schools team up to promote bicycle safety with reading

Western Nevada Safe Routes to School Program Coordinator Cortney Bloomer delivers books to the Ride for Reading event at Bordewich Bray Elementary School in Carson City, Nev., on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015.

Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Man jailed on second DUI after hitting telephone pole

A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 11:13 p.m. in the area of Bath and Mountain streets on a gross misdemeanor charge of suspected second DUI, misdemeanor hit and run and two counts violation of bail conditions.
