School community dedicates Robin Ross Library and Reading Cove at Fremont Elementary
On Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, Robin’s family, School Board trustees, staff members from throughout the district, retirees, and Fremont families met for the formal dedication of the Robin Ross Library.
Ms. Ross was a classroom teacher and literacy coach at Fremont Elementary for over 20 years. When she passed away last year after a lengthy illness, the staff and her retired colleagues wished to honor her memory.
We felt the library was a fitting symbol of her love of literacy and life-long learning. The Carson City School District School Board agreed. In addition to naming the library in her honor, we commissioned, Mrs. Nanette Oleson, a local artist and former Fremont counselor to paint the reading cove with illustrations that honor the life and spirit of Ms. Ross.
