I’m heartsick over what transpired Sunday night, but equally comforted by the outpouring of support this community has shown. Nevada Day is just weeks away, and I am truly grateful to be Battle Born. Mark Twain Elementary to host My School Color Run this Saturday at Mills Park

Mark Twain Elementary School will host its community wide My School Color Run this Saturday, April 22, 10 a.m. at Mills Park in Carson City.

Participants are encouraged to sign in early beginning at 9 a.m. The two mile event, a fundraiser for the school, is designed as all ages walk, jog or run and is for all fitness abilities.

During the event, participants pass through designated color zones as part of an enhanced spring time bounty of full on colorful experiences. This is the second annual event.

Swim lessons target autism at Carson City Aquatic Facility

Sam Chenin can't wait for his swim class to begin.

But this wasn't always the case, said his mother Sherri Chenin.

"We tried public lessons here when he was younger, before he was diagnosed, and he would be in the tot pool with two instructors and six kids," she said. "He would just let go and go under the water. He had no fear."
