Nevada Northern Railway’s Fireworks Express a Pyrotechnic Display Unlike Any Other

This annual train is generally a sell-out and offers 'front row' seats to the fireworks that are shot off of the back of the moving train. Passengers can watch from an open-air flat car or stay in a heated coach car (or move between the two).
The event is held in conjunction with the community’s award-winning Fire & Ice show at Cave Lake held during Martin Luther King weekend.

Fire restrictions in Western Nevada to be lifted Friday; Carson City restrictions to remain in place

The Carson City Fire Department, however, has no intention at this time of lifting fire restrictions within the city limits.
The Man goes up in flames as Burning Man nears end

The Man burn is the high point of a frenetic week in which 70,000 people build and occupy a city on the desert about two hours north of Reno.

Firefighters extinguish brush fire caused by Virginia City fireworks

Storey County officials said crews worked throughout the night to extinguish the 1.3 acre fire, and it is 100 percent contained.

Today may feel a little like a Monday, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy yourself. Check out the new Spirit of America show at the Nevada Artists Association Gallery at the Brewery Arts Show. Our local Classic Cinema Club meets tonight and will be showing 'A Walk in the Sun' with Dana Andrews. If you feel like playing with fire, Controlled Burn meets at A to Zen to practice the right way to handle the flames.

Carson City, Virginia City, Lake Tahoe, and Reno will have fireworks displays starting around 9:30. Minden, Gardnerville, and Genoa aren’t slacking, though. Festivities can be found just about everywhere.

King’s Beach always celebrates early, so you can catch fireworks at the northeast end of Tahoe, as well. Keep reading: the weekend is in full swing.
