Gold Hill Lecture Series: Comstock bonanzas and the global gold industry from Comstock Mining Inc.

Comstock Mining Inc. CEO Corrado De Gasperis will speak on “Comstock Bonanzas and an Overview of the Global Gold Industry on Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Thursday Night Gold Hill Lecture Series. The series features local historians and performers to present the topic of their choice.

Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through Nov. 1

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Oct. 26 through Nov. 1, 2015. Due to Nevada Day events including a parade, Carson Street will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 31, from approximately 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Numerous side streets connected to Carson Street will be impacted as well. Detours will be signed.

Gold Hill Hotel features unique Chautauqua performance tonight

It's Your City: Friends of the Library's Linda Belgray discusses Saturday's Movie Masquerade Ball

This week's It's Your City with host Cortney Bloomer features guest Linda Belgray of Friends of the Carson City Library. They discuss the international Film Weekend coming up in February and the Movie Masquerade Ball this Saturday, Oct. 24, 7 p.m. at Silver Oak Golf and Event Center to raise funds for the film festival.

Lecture Thursday at BAC features noted expert in brain-body connection

Sierra Nevada Forums, Partnership Carson City and Nevada Juvenile Justice will host a lecture Thursday in Carson City on the brain/body connection by a consultant for the Navy SEALS and the International Olympic Committee.

John Underwood, director and founder of Pure Performance, is the Human Performance Consultant for the U.S. Navy SEALS, and presented at numerous military bases.

'Kick Nic's Cancer' fundraiser Friday and Sunday at Sassafras

There will be two events hosted by Sassafras on Oct. 23 and 25, to provide an opportunity to help raise money for Nichole Millim. The events will feature live music, raffle drawings, drinks and dinner specials. A percentage of the restaurant’s proceeds for the two evenings will also be donated to Nic’s fundraiser account.

WordWave literary festival this weekend in South Lake Tahoe

Writers, readers and performers from all around the country will appear at South Lake Tahoe this weekend for WordWave, a three-day festival held on the grounds of Valhalla at the Tallac Historic Site.

This literary mash-up features oral storytelling, theater performances and free readings, panels on craft, yoga, and a novel writing camp for kids.

Donors sought for Celebrity Chef and Harvest Dinner fundraiser for Greenhouse Project

It’s that time of year again, when sponsors are sought to support the Celebrity Chef and Harvest Dinner, hosted by Cafe at Adele’s in Carson City and now in its sixth year.

A major donor, (composed of one donor or many) for the amount of $5,000 is still needed. The $5,000 match is collected through donations both large and small, by dinner patrons.

Reno Chamber Orchestra features Theodore Kuchar and James Winn

Oktoberfest Fundraiser for Bethlehem Lutheran at Firkin and Fox

The Nevada State Prison in Carson City is the latest addition to the National Register of Historic Places, with its listing Friday by the National Park Service. The National Register is the nation’s official list of properties worthy of preservation.

Celebration of Basques at Nevada State Museum family fun program Oct. 10

As Street Vibrations rolls between Reno and Virginia City into the weekend, Carson City Harley-Davidson will host its 15th annual BikeFest celebration beginning Thursday with a fireworks show Friday night, bands, and a concert by WAR on Saturday night.
