Nevada Day weekend features three-day La Ka Lel be Pow Wow
This three-day Nevada Day favorite event features traditional food dance, arts, horseshoe tournament, and crafts at the Washoe Colony gym, 2900 South Curry Street. The first pow wow event is Friday, 7 p.m. featuring host drum WILD bear, MC Carlos Calico, Tyson Shaw, AD.
The second session will be Saturday following the parade with a horseshoe tournament and pow wow events beginning at 2 p.m. There will be a dinner break at 5 p.m. This wonderful potluck dinner is open for food donations. Some of the best regional dishes can be found during the potluck. Donors are asked make their food available by 5 p.m. The powvwow with traditional dance continues at 7 p.m.
Sunday's event begins at 12 noon. There will be Native American arts and craft vendors and plenty of food vendors throughout the three-day event. This is a competition pow wow for all categories for men, women, kids and teens.
