Carson City makes top 25 in Levitt AMP voting
Carson City has made the Top 25 in voting to be considered for the Levitt AMP Award, matching grant funds provided by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation that help bring free, family-friendly outdoor concerts to communities nationwide.
The Nevada state capital was also one of only three communities West of the Rocky Mountains to be voted onto the list of Top 25 finalists. The other two sites are Boise, ID, and Santa Fe, NM.
"Levitt AMP has rekindled a sense of place, civic pride and empowerment," the Brewery Arts Center stated in its proposal. "Evidence that we enrich lives through the power of free, live music is proven each week by the size and diversity of our audience."
The Brewery Arts Center (BAC) has hosted the Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series each of the last three years on the Minnesota Street Stage, featuring more than just live music. The 10-week series held during the summer also brings food trucks and offers hands-on activities for children and families on the BAC grounds.

The Top 25 vote-getters will be whittled down to the final 15 communities, which will receive the $25,000 Levitt AMP Award. Winners of the grant award will be announced Tuesday, Dec. 18.
