A 25-year-old Mound House man who was driving with a revoked license for a prior DUI, crashed his vehicle early Sunday on Highway 50 East injury a female passenger. He was arrested for suspicion of felony DUI causing substantial bodily harm and other charges, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Pinwheels for Prevention cover Carson City Legislature, raising awareness to prevent child abuse

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Carson City has gone blue with the Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign, a national event hosted by Carson City’s Advocates to End Domestic Violence, and Prevent Child Abuse Nevada.

On Friday, Carson City residents joined together to plant pinwheels across the Nevada Legislature's lawn, in an effort to raise awareness about preventing child abuse.

“The pinwheel is an uplifting reminder of childhood and the bright futures all children deserve,” a spokesperson for the national event said. “We want to reinforce the notion that healthy child development serves as a foundation for both community and economic development.”

Standoff in Stagecoach with Lyon County Sheriff's deputies ends, man in custody

UPDATE 4:02PM: The Lyon County Sheriff's Office has identified the man involved in a standoff that happened Tuesday morning. George “Vic” Sheppard was taken into custody at around noon and faces a charge of domestic battery. A female victim was treated for minor injuries.
