Daughters of the American Revolution, Battle Born Chapter, and Fort Churchill Society, Children of the American Revolution, celebrated Constitution Week on September 15, 2019 with a gathering featuring guest speaker Carson City District Attorney Jason Woodbury, whose topic “Rascals and Rebels: Uprisings that Sparked America” described the struggles that changed history.

Activities include the Silver State Art Festival at Fuji Park, a Charters of Freedom presentation in the Ormsby Room of the Carson City Sheriff's Office, bike rides, train rides, a film viewing at Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City and more. Good morning Carson City and happy Saturday! It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

Events include the Silver State Art Festival at Fuji Park, suicide awareness walks in Carson City, a Celtic faire at Dangberg Home Ranch, the ninth annual Edible Pedal bike ride at Bowers Mansion, train rides in Virginia City and much more!

Battle Born Chapter DAR and Ft. Churchill Society Children of the American Revolution invite the public to "Celebrate the Charters of Freedom" this Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Ormsby Room, located in the Sheriff's Office, 911 E. Musser Street, Carson City.

Featured speaker is Jason Woodbury, District Attorney of Carson City who will speak on " Rascals and Rebels: Uprisings that Sparked America."

Carson City District Attorney Jason Woodbury spoke Sunday, Sept. 16 to members of the Battle Born Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Fort Churchill Chapter of Children of American Revolution. His talk on the history and meanings of the United States Constitution kicked off the celebration of Constitution Week.

Patricia Potter, former Carson City educator and former chair of the Carson-Tahoe Hospital Board of Trustees, died at her Carson City home at 4:40 a.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2010. She was 80.

"I was saddened to learn of Pat's passing," said U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.

"She was a good teacher and a good friend to many Nevadans," Reid added.

"Pat was a strong advocate for change and fought for a better Nevada as chair of the Carson City Democratic Central Committee. My thoughts go out to Pat's family and friends during this difficult time," Reid stated.
