Carson City District Attorney helps kick off Constitution Week
Carson City District Attorney Jason Woodbury spoke Sunday, Sept. 16 to members of the Battle Born Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Fort Churchill Chapter of Children of American Revolution. His talk on the history and meanings of the United States Constitution kicked off the celebration of Constitution Week.
In 1955 the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution petitioned the Congress to set aside the week of September 17 through 23 annually as Constitution Week.
The purpose of the observance week is to promote study and education about the United States Constitution which was originally adopted by the American Congress of the Confederation on September 17, 1787.
The members of Battle Born Chapter encourage everyone to visit the Charters of Freedom monument, placed earlier this year in front of the Carson City Courthouse. See story here.
Constitution Week is Sept. 17-23. During this week, Battle Born Chapter has also placed a related showcase display at the Carson City Library for the month of September.
