Celebrate Constitution Week this Sunday in Carson City with Daughters of the American Revolution
Battle Born Chapter DAR and Ft. Churchill Society Children of the American Revolution invite the public to "Celebrate the Charters of Freedom" this Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Ormsby Room, located in the Sheriff's Office, 911 E. Musser Street, Carson City.
Featured speaker is Jason Woodbury, District Attorney of Carson City who will speak on " Rascals and Rebels: Uprisings that Sparked America."
The DAR initiated the observance of Constitution Week in 1955 to encourage the study of the historical events that led to the framing of the Constitution, to inform people that the Constitution is the basis of America's great heritage and to emphasize U.S. citizens' responsibility to protect, defend and preserve the Constitution.
This year, the annual celebration begins September 17, 2019.
We will also pay our respects to the monument "Charters of Freedom" located on the grounds of the adjacent Court House. It was dedicated June 14, 2018. See store here.
Light refreshments will be served. Please plan to join us as we keep alive the memory of the men and women who secured our nation's independence, whose bravery and sacrifice made possible the liberties we enjoy today. Families welcome.
