Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. You’ll find two car shows in town – the Party at the Pavilion as part of the Nevada State Fair and the Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show at the Carson Nugget. What a great start to March. A few days on sunshine under our belt and now it’s wine walk weekend. With fingers crossed, the weather should hold out until it’s over, but be prepared for some wind. The Shrine Circus is in Reno, Girl Scout Cookies are on sale, and we inch closer to the longer days and shorter nights of Spring. You’ll find something for everyone this weekend, whether looking for fun with friends, your little ones, or your special someone. Take a look, and have a great weekend Carson City.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for clear skies, but there are rumors of snow flurries. Luckily there are indoor and outdoor activities, no matter what blows our way. At the top of the list for today is Winter, Wine, Spirits, and All That Jazz at the Brewery Arts Center. Their annual fundraiser is not to be missed.

I’m not trying to rush you, but the holidays season approaches. As such, the holiday craft fairs, bazaars, and bake sales have arrived. You may as well start looking at that gift list to see who would enjoy something one-of-a-kind and locally crafted. If not for gift giving, these fairs are an excellent way to find fun ways to decorate your home. Other than that, the weekend is kind of quiet, but you'll want take a look at the list and see what catches your fancy.

Happy Thursday, Carson City. Kick the weekend off a little early with some live music on the veranda at Adele’s. Living the Good Life welcomes back Jimmy Mallett to the stage to entertain you. Learn something new at the Nevada State Museum: Rick Martin gives a presentation on Gold Dredges. Kick up your cowboy boots at the Ormsby Club or sing your heart out at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar. The weekend has arrived and there are festivals everywhere. A Basque Festival and Picnic can be found in Gardnerville. Bowers Mansion hosts a Bluegrass Festival for the 31st year. Ta-Hoe Nalu Paddle Festival returns to King Beach for the weekend. The Annual Jazz and Beyond Music Festival has infiltrated the whole valley with musicians. Conditions were ideal for an outdoor concert in the country Sunday afternoon. With highs in the eighties, the dog days of August seemed tame compared with seasons past.

I really hope I’m not required to choose a favorite event. I would be hard pressed to choose between the Nevada Day Parade and the annual Taste of Downtown. Luckily, I can adore them both, and for much the same reason. They are a celebration of community, of Carson City, of our historic downtown and all that it has to offer. In addition to 'The Taste', the Brewery Arts Center goes country with the Southern Drawl Band on its outdoor stage, and Madam Curry leads another downtown Ghost Walk. I am not even going to attempt guessing what weather we have in store. The west side of the Sierras are notoriously unpredictable. You are much better off betting on the Kentucky Derby; and the Firkin and Fox is just the place to cheer on your favorite horse.

It’s a blast from the past weekend. Get started with some history at the Dangberg Home Historic Ranch with the Naughty Tea Mistresses. A walking tour of our haunted past begins at the corner of Third and Curry with the Downtown Ghost Walk. Celebrate Prohibition-style at the Brewery Arts Center: the annual Speakeasy Swing Dance Party wants to see you in your finest zoot suit or flapper dress. Head back to the Eighties at Living the Good Life; DJ Bobby G is spinning the hits from yesteryear.

I apologize, Carson City. You have some decisions to make. There is quite a bit going on whether you want something family friendly, adults only, indoors, outdoors, or a combination of it all. The weekly Farmers Market at Third and Curry St. is always a good way to start the weekend. Yummy food, a bounce house for the kids, and beautiful flowers are hard to argue with. The performance will be followed by discussion.

The final day of the NV 150 Fair at Fuji Park in Carson City kicks off at 9 a.m. with the Ranch Rodeo finals at the grandstand. Come down and see all the bucking broncos and barrel racing events. The rodeo runs until 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the grandstand or here.

NV 150 Fair events continue all day long Saturday at Fuji Park in Carson City. Parking is available at Casino Fandango, with shuttle bus service to and from the fairgrounds.

Among today's activities, there will be livestock shows, sales and demonstrations, carnival rides and games, fly tying demonstrations, cloggers, a dog show at 4 p.m. Sons of Slide Mountain Band beginning at noon, Youth Theater Carson City performance at 12:30 p.m.

On stage The Mountain Girls (band) at 4:30, Ranch Rodeo at 5 p.m., live music with CW Bayer and Mr. Spoons at 5:30 p.m.

There's plenty of music set for this weekend in Carson City, including jazz lineups in celebration of Jazz! Carson City 2011. Music in the Market continues today, Saturday, through 1 p.m. at the Third and Curry Street Farmer's Market. Meanwhile, Saturday night at plan:b microlounge inside of Sassafras will feature award-winning jazz musician Joe Berry. While on Sunday it is Jazz Picnic in the Park.
