Gabriel Rutledge will be headlining the Carson Comedy Club this weekend, Jan. 11-12 inside the Carson Nugget located at 507 N Carson St. in Carson City.

Daryl Dragon, who was half of the soft pop rock duo “The Captain and Tennille” along with then-wife Toni Tennille, producing hits such as "Muskrat Love" and "Love with Keep us Together" and at one time lived in Washoe Valley north of Carson City with Tennille, died in Arizona on Wednesday. He was 76.

Claude Stuart will be headlining the Carson Comedy Club inside the Carson Nugget in the capital city, Dec. 28-29.

From packing comedy venues across the globe to regular television appearances on shows like “The Tonight Show,” and “Last Comic Standing,” Claude Stuart has come a long way from his down home southern roots.

UPDATE: Episodes of the new television sitcom "Casino Boss" will begin airing Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 on Charter Spectrum Cable Channel 190, the Carson Nugget said.
The program will then air daily at 4 p.m., 8 p.m. and 12 a.m. until Jan. 31, 2019.

The pilot episode of “Casino Boss,” a TV sitcom filmed this summer in Carson City about the inner workings of a casino starring comedian, actor and Saturday Night Live alum Joe Piscopo will be shown on Charter cable sometime in the near future.

Acclaimed comedian and Carson Valley area resident funny woman Kat Simmons will be offering her fall stand up comedy work shop beginning Oct. 1 through Nov. 5 from 6-8 p.m. at the COD Casino in Minden.

Hopefest8 at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center is a free concert featuring folk/pop singer, Tyrone Wells, bringing awareness and raising funds for local patient resources. We are running out of summer weekends. I know that’s hard to believe right now, but hoodies and everything pumpkin is just beyond the horizon. Grab summer with both hands and go enjoy this beautiful city. The Brewery Arts Center brings Dennis Johnson and the Mississippi Ramblers to the stage for tonight’s free concert. Check out the Railroad Museum for your fill of music and antique motor cars. Car lovers have two shows to choose from today: spectators will be able to enjoy both, but you’ll have to pick one if you want to enter your ride. Keep reading for more summertime fun.

It’s a very special Friday for the kids of Carson City: it’s the last day of summer vacation. Take full advantage of your free time and check out some of today’s activities. Live music at McFadden Plaza tonight features local cover band, Deception. The Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival kicks off tonight with a band in the Davis Creek Campground. The U.S. Air Force’s Jazz Ensemble performs at the Bob Boldrick Theater as part of the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival. Free tickets have been available at the Chamber of Commerce for a few weeks, and if any are left, their numbers will be limited.

On Monday Aug. 6, seven brave and funny students took to the stage at the COD Casino in Minden, as part of their graduation from Kat Simmons' comedy workshop.
