Today kicks off the three-day High School Rodeo at the Douglas Fairgrounds, and if all goes well, it should remain dry for our local ropers and riders. Kids will want to test their skill at the ‘Pitch, Hit, Run’ Competition at the Boys and Girls Club. Secret Agents are the topic at the monthly Mike Thompson Lecture at the Plaza Hotel if you’re looking for intrigue.

The storm won’t stop the fun to be found in the valley tonight. Two-time MVP, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry signs on to American Century Championship

Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Steph Curry will join superstar athletes and entertainers at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe later this month.

Well known as an accomplished golfer, Curry finished fourth in the 2013 event and was immediately installed as one of the favorites to win, listed at 5-1 by the Harrah’s and Harveys Race & Sports Book. Curry’s father, Dell, who enjoyed a 16-year NBA career, is also in the field as is Curry’s Golden State Warriors teammate Andre Iguodala.

At 8:30 a.m. this morning there will be a memorial service at the 9/11 Memorial in Mills Park where an I-beam from the fallen towers now serves as a reminder. Broadway comedy 'Defending the Caveman' to benefit Carson City Library

The one-man Broadway comedy “Defending the Caveman” is coming to the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center at 8 p.m. Saturday.

“It is all about the sexes and how they see and hear the same topics of conversation in very different ways,” said Phyllis Patton, president of the Friends of the Carson City Library. “We can all relate to at least one of these scenarios. It’s guaranteed laughter and elbow pokes to the ribs throughout the evening.”

Tahoe's Howie Nave headed to Vegas as inductee of Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame

Lake Tahoe radio host, standup comedian and emcee of the Improv at Harveys, Howie Nave is among 62 Nevada radio and television personalities and managers who will be inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame this Saturday in Las Vegas.

Nave, who has been with KRLT FM 93.9 as host of “Howie’s Morning Rush” at Lake Tahoe for nearly 15 years, will be inducted at the Four Seasons Hotel. He joins the ranks of more than 800 broadcasters from around Nevada who make up the Hall of Fame, celebrating its 20th year.

Timberlake joins sports legends Tuesday during Tahoe celebrity opening practice round

STATELINE — Sports stars and celebrities worked out the kinks from tee to green Tuesday during the opening practice round of the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course at Lake Tahoe.

Among the headliners to warm up and sign autographs at the famed Tahoe South course were defending 2014 champion Mark Rypien, retired New York Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens, American Olympic soccer star Brandi Chastain and first-timer Justin Timberlake.

Sports legends, celebrities sign on for 26th American Century Championship at Lake Tahoe

Cherry Creek Radio has filed with the FCC to sell South Lake Tahoe based KRLT-FM and KOWL-AM to current General Manager, Steve Harness and a group of investors.

"I put together a group of investors and secured financing to make it possible," Harness told South Tahoe Now. "I've put eight years of sweat equity into both stations and I did not want to see that work undone by new owners."
