According to the Nevada Division of Industrial Relations, six Northern Nevada businesses were cited for failing to comply with COVID-19 safety guidelines, three of which were in Carson City.
Masked pair steal wallet at Carson City Walmart, run up $2k on credit card at Douglas store

Carson City woman arrested for grand larceny, child endangerment after shoplifting spree

Gun accidentally discharged at North Carson City Walmart

Initial reports from dispatch were that a firearm had been accidentally discharged after being dropped, and a bullet had hit another patron.

Law enforcement appreciation in Dallas aftermath extends to Carson City

On Friday, associates with the Carson City Walmart on 3200 Market Street arrived at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office with food trays for sheriff’s office personnel as a way to show their appreciation.
Northern Nevada Dream Center annual toiletries drives helps those in need

Walmart shoppers and community members were eager to donate after hearing about the cause.
The Northern Nevada Dream Center is a group of volunteers with a vision to bring hope and relief to residencts in local communities. The organization aims to meet basic needs of families and individuals by providing assistance.

Muscle Powered has organized a monthly trash mob to help keep our trails clean, join them at US Bank to help out. The Ghost Walk returns: meet behind the Firkin and Fox for some local haunted history. Teens will enjoy a ‘Night at the Library’ with pizza and games. And as always, the Nevada State Railroad Museum beckons: this week with rides on the Steam Train available.

Carson City Walmart on Market Street evacuated after gas leak
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 07/07/2015 - 11:45amThe Carson City Walmart store re-opened at around 2 p.m. following a gas leak in which the store was evacuated. Fire crews found the source of the leak and cut it off. Employees gathered outside the store, many opting to bring their lunches or go to nearby restaurants.
No one was injured.

The Walmart store on Market Street in Carson City has been evacuated because of a gas leak. Carson City Fire Department was dispatched to the store as was Carson City Sheriff's Office at 12:19 p.m. for the leak. The store was evacuated.
Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Four jailed on felony burglary charges
Submitted by editor on Mon, 05/04/2015 - 11:09amFour people were arrested Sunday on felony burglary and drug charges after two attempted to steal more than $800 worth of merchandise from a Carson City Walmart store, fleeing security officers and then getting into a vehicle occupied by two that had backpacks of new merchandise with tags, ledgers, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested on felony charges were Ashley Dadey, 28, Jessica Sanchez, 23, Priscilla Denise Roches, 28, and Pablo Benito Martinez, 35.
Scout launches food drive this Saturday and again Sept. 6 for FISH
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 08/19/2014 - 9:42amI am Nick Bowler of Troop 16 in Carson City. I am working on a food drive for FISH for my Eagle Scout project. There will be drop off locations at both Carson City Walmart locations on Saturday, August 23.
There will also be a drop off location on Sept. 6 at First Baptist Church on Mountain Street during their annual Block Party. FISH feeds over 300 families per month and their shelves are empty right now. They can use any non-perishable food item but really need protein like beans, tuna, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese or chili.
Northern Nevada Dream Center Annual Toiletries Drive

Woman jailed after attempting to take $1,100 in merchandise from Carson City Walmart
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 06/25/2014 - 2:00pmA 29-year-old homeless woman was jailed Tuesday on suspicion of felony grand larceny after allegedly trying to steal $1,100 in merchandise from Walmart, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Ashley Ambrose also faces misdemeanor charges of obstructing and a warrant out of Reno for failure to appear in traffic court.
According to the arrest report, officers were called to the Market Street store at around 8 p.m. and learned from Walmart Loss Prevention that the woman attempted to push a cart full of merchandise through the west doors of the store.
Pair jailed following alleged receipt for cash scheme at Carson City Walmart

The women, ages 45 and 50, were arrested Saturday at 12:23 p.m. According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the Walmart in the 3200 block of Market Street after store security had the pair detained.
Carson City Walmart cashier arrested, admits to stealing money from register
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 11/22/2013 - 9:18amA 20-year-old Carson City man was was arrested Thursday and admitted to felony embezzlement from Walmart, his employer.
Kyle James Bettencourt is being held in Carson City Jail on $20,000 bond. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to Walmart on Market Street and spoke with store security personnel who advised they had been monitoring Bettencourt's cash transactions while he was working the register.
Carson City Walmart provides $25,000 helping hand to FISH for new food delivery truck
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 10/30/2013 - 12:57pmShowing its continued support for the Carson City community, Walmart has donated a $25,000 grant to Friends in Service Helping, otherwise known as FISH, for its food bank delivery vehicle.
Walmart recently provided the money needed for the new FISH Food Bank delivery truck, which currently distributes to food bank locations in Carson City, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties.

Carson City man jailed after admitting to sexual assault
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 06/13/2013 - 12:43pmA 38-year-old Carson City man faces a felony sexual assault charge, admitting to investigators that he committed the crime against a 16-year-old girl.
Joaquin Canales-Montes is being held on $100,000 bail. He was arrested Tuesday after agreeing to a voluntary interview by Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators. The crime happened in the 3000 block of Airport Road around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, he told officers after he was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak.
Carson Now is withholding information to protect the victim.
