Scout launches food drive this Saturday and again Sept. 6 for FISH
I am Nick Bowler of Troop 16 in Carson City. I am working on a food drive for FISH for my Eagle Scout project. There will be drop off locations at both Carson City Walmart locations on Saturday, August 23.
There will also be a drop off location on Sept. 6 at First Baptist Church on Mountain Street during their annual Block Party. FISH feeds over 300 families per month and their shelves are empty right now. They can use any non-perishable food item but really need protein like beans, tuna, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese or chili.
I have been in Boy Scouts for nine years. I have learned leadership skills and being able to survive in the wilderness. One of the main things I have learned is to help others at all times. I’ve also experienced many exciting trips. Recently, I completed a trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. I backpacked 95 miles for 12 days in grueling conditions. That trip taught me how to survive and not give up.
Thank you for your help and hope to see you out there on Saturday, August 23.
