Cameron Rudy was crowned Mr. Carson High 2019 Friday at the Carson City Community Center in Carson City.

New Plumas Bank branch in Carson City cuts ribbon on its grand opening

Carson City officials and Chamber of Commerce members celebrated the grand opening of the new Plumas Bank branch Thursday evening at 1101 N. Carson Street with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell helped bank branch representatives christen the business with a pair of oversized scissors that cut the ribbon.

Read Across America Day celebrated at Carson City Library Saturday

Local officials turned up at the Carson City Library Saturday to join in the fun of Read Across America Day.

Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell, Carson City Supervisor Lori Bagwell and Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong were each scheduled read from a book to groups of children during the Read Across America Day celebration.

Carson Kids Dental celebrates opening with ribbon cutting ceremony Friday

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting to mark the opening of Carson Kids Dental Friday. In attendance were Dr. Chelsie Todd, Chamber members and city officials, including Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell who helped Dr. Todd cut the ribbon on the new dental care clinic.

Dr. Todd and her staff are excited to provide quality care and a comfortable experience for kids in the community.

Closure and delay report for greater Carson City area on Tuesday, Feb. 5

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak has ordered all state offices in Carson City, Douglas and Washoe counties to open at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The Carson City Mayor and City Manager have ordered a 10 a.m. delayed opening for municipal offices.

Carson City schools are closed today. There will be no student activities, including after-school and evening programs, practices or contests. No school services such as transportation, nutrition or student health.

All Carson Valley schools in Douglas County are operating on a 90-minute delay.

Douglas County lake schools are closed.

Sassabration celebrates diversity at fourth annual festival in Carson City

The fourth annual Sassabration is happening now through Saturday evening in the parking lot of Carson Hot Springs Resort, 1500 Old Hot Springs Road in Carson City.

The 11-hour diversity festival, co-hosted this year by Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint, Carson Hot Springs Resort, and Shoe Tree Brewing Company, started at noon Saturday and runs until 10 p.m. tonight.
