Good day Carson City and welcome to the last day of spring. Today is Thursday, June 20, 2019. Instead of hot weather, Mother Nature has decided to cool things down some as we head into the weekend with highs in the low 80s today and the low 70s for the first day of summer. Events, activities and more are lined up today including the first day of the three-day police officer motorcycle challenge at Mills Park, morning walks, Cruise Night at Empire Ranch Golf Course and live music outdoors at Living the Good Life.

The Carson City Library is partnering with Google today, Wednesday, to bring “Grow with Google” to the capital city.

The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., going over topics such as reaching customers online, promoting businesses online, and more.

Paws what you’re doing and mark your calendar for Friday, June 21, 5 and 6:30 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center. Students with the Carson City School District, in partnership with the Wild Horse Children’s Theater, will debut their Summer Theater Camp’s adaptation of Disney’s "101 Dalmatians, Kids." Admission to the play is free of charge; however, donations will be accepted.

Heading into Tuesday, June 18, 2019 we're looking at continued warming around the region with a daytime high around 91. Temperatures are expected to actually lower toward the end of the week. Events around town Tuesday include a Muscle Powered walk, hike and bike ride, yoga, exercises for the mind and body hosted by the Carson City Emblem Club, political gatherings, art activities and more.

Good day Carson City. It is Sunday, June 16, 2019. Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there. Celebrate with the final day of the Stewart Father's Day Powwow, a bike ride with Muscle Powered, a tasty brunch hosted by the Carson City Emblem Club or a southern-style brunch, bingo and comedy fundraiser in the spirit of the late comedian Bea Arthur at Sassafras. Plus there's art showings, train rides, Pop opera and more. Enjoy the day!

Heading into Father’s Day weekend, there's plenty of jam-packed activities around the Carson City region. There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. The Stewart Father’s Day Powwow happens Friday to Sunday and features hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers artists and cultural enthusiasts. Lace up the tennis shoes for the Eastside Historical tour of the capital city hosted by Muscle Powered. Journey of Hope returns to Western Nevada College at 5 p.m. to settle into the evening. Open Mic Night at A to Zen will cap-off an eventful Friday heading into the weekend.

Thursday Morning Hike on June 20, 8am – Ash to Kings Canyon. Meet at the end of the asphalt on Ash Canyon Road to carpool to the trailhead.

Tuesday Evening Hike on June 18, 5:30 pm – Kings Canyon Upper Waterfall Loop. Meet at the west end of Kings Canyon Road by the trailhead, CC. We will hike to the upper waterfall on the Ash Canyon Trail.

Activities lined up include workshops, an anniversary party and showing at Artsy Fartsy art gallery, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, a Kiwanis Club meeting and Chamber annual meeting at The Martin Hotel, Cruise Night at Bully's Sports Bar, live music outdoors at Living the Good Life and more. Heading into Wednesday, June 12, 2019 means we are half way through the work week. Temperatures will be around the 90 mark with a chance of afternoon showers. Activities lined up include art classes, a hike designed for tots through Carson City Parks and Recreation, a Ninja aerobic class at Yaple's Ballroom and you can hear local author CW Bayer talk about three of his books on area history at Browsers Corner Book Store. June 13, 8 am – TRT south of Highway 50. Meet in the Highway 50 Park n Ride where we will carpool up to the Spooner Summit trailhead. Water and closed-toed shoes required. Hat and poles recommended.

Sunday Ride
June 9, 8 am- Meet at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Rd, Carson City, NV 89701, in the south parking lot, next to the Linear Ditch Trail.

Tuesday Evening Hike
June 11, 5:30 pm – Kings Canyon Trail/Lincoln Highway. Meet at the west end of Kings Canyon Road by the trailhead, CC. We will hike to Horse Creek Ranch meadow and back. Water and closed-toed shoes required. Hat and poles recommended.

CARSON CITY — Returning for the 2019 season, the V&T Railway’s popular Toast of the Canyon train rides kicks off on Saturday, June 15 and will feature area wineries, distilleries and breweries. The event, which runs every other Saturday through October, takes passengers into the Carson River Canyon to enjoy libations and appetizers.

Please join Muscle Powered as we walk around Spooner Lake and look for wildflowers! They should be spectacular due to our above average snowfall. Meet at the Carson City Highway 50 Park and Ride just west of the U.S. 50 and 395 intersection to carpool.

Time change to morning! Join us on our free leader-led hikes each week to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City! Meet at the end of Ash Canyon Road to carpool to the "square pond" near the water tanks. Water and sturdy closed-toe shoes required. Hat, sunscreen and hiking poles recommended.

Who hasn't been enjoying life at home without the air conditioner or swamp cooler running? Sooner or later that will change, but for now, enjoy the moment. Heading into Thursday, May 30, 2019, you can take a bike ride with local dignitaries or stroll through the capital grounds. If you're a job seeker there's an employment fair at Max Casino. Winding down the day there's an afternoon hike in the hills; the rev of engines highlights the return of Carson City's Thursday night car and truck cruises, and ... Elvis will be in the house at Living the Good Life Nightclub, Bistro and Lounge. Enjoy!

Heading into Wednesday, May 29, 2019, there's a number of events around the Carson City region lined up, including Salsa dancing classes at Yaple's Ballroom, a live music show at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City (hosted by the Canvas Cafe) and a live jazz jam at Living the Good Life in Carson City.

Hello Carson City and a warm welcome back from the Memorial Day weekend. Heading into Tuesday, May 28, 2019 there's sunshine in our midst or so says weather forecasters. We're looking at highs in the upper 60s. On tap for the day we have morning and evening walks, a bicycle ride for ladies, an archery shoot at Centennial Park, a Tip-A-Cop fundraiser in Gardnerville to support Special Olympics, a meeting of the Carson City school board and more.

Join us on our free leader-led hikes each week to enjoy Nevada outdoors! We have moved the Spooner Lake Hike on Thursday, May 30, 3:00 pm to the Wild Horse Trail, in Carson City.

The conditions at Spooner Lake this week will be cold and wet so we are moving Thursday's hike "down to the valley" and will be hiking at Centennial Park on the Wild Horse Trail. This trail starts behind the ballfields at Centennial Park. Drive all the way to the back of ballfields on Heritage Way where the trail starts. Water and sturdy closed-toe shoes required. Hat, sunscreen and hiking poles recommended.
