— Stewart Father's Day Powwow in Carson City (all day). Hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers, artists, craftsmen and cultural enthusiasts will converge on Carson City the weekend of June 14-16 for the annual Stewart Indian School Father’s Day Powwow. Festivities at the former Stewart Indian School, located at 5500 Snyder Ave., Carson City, include daily grand entries, crafts and food vendors, and a fun run. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
— Muscle Powered Weekly Bicycle Ride. 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Fremont Elementary School in Carson City. Typically, this ride consists of two 10-15 minute loops with varying pace depending on rider level. This is a “no drop” ride so no one will be left behind. All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, a helmet, and closed toed shoes. — Nevada Artists Association Presents: Spirit of America. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spirit of America is a judged show with ribbons for the Spirit of America winner, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and honorable mention winners in each category. The reception and awards presentation will be Saturday, June 22 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. 449 West King Street.
— Carson City Emblem Club hosts Father's Day Brunch. 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Elk’s Lodge No. 2177, 515 N. Nevada Street in Carson City. Members of Carson City Emblem Club No. 507 will honor all fathers on Sunday, June 16, with a Father's Day brunch.This event runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon. A variety of breakfast choices will be offered and the public is invited to attend.The event is at the the Elk's Lodge No. 2177, 515 N Nevada Street in Carson City. The cost is $12 per person.
— Train to Virginia City from Carson City. Event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4650 Eastgate Siding Road. Prices for the ride range from $25-$55. Rediscover Nevada’s rich history in mining and mill on the V&T Carson City-Virginia City route as you meander through tunnels, canyons and mining towns aboard a restored 1914 Pullman coach led by a 1916 Baldwin 2-8-0 steam locomotive. This relaxing all-day train excursion is fully narrated with historical facts and anecdotes. Departing from Carson City’s Eastgate Depot, the 24-mile round-trip tour includes a fun 3.5-hour stopover in historic Virginia City, where you can stroll the boardwalks and explore restaurants, shops, saloons, museums, mines and more. — Sassabration fundraiser returns to Carson City with Sunday brunch, bingo and Bea Arthur. 11 a.m. at Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint, at 1500 Old Hot Springs Rd. in Carson City. Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint will kick-off Father’s Day in Carson City during its fifth annual Sassabration fundraiser event featuring Brunch and Bingo with Bea Arthur, a tribute to the late comedy actress, singer and activist Bea Arthur on Sunday, June 16 at 11 a.m. A savory southern-style brunch buffet will be served along with several activities and live performances to keep the fundraiser jam-packed with excitement. The talented and charismatic Adam Whitney will perform as Bea Arthur during a two-hour performance featuring dancing, singing, stories, Bingo and plenty of laughs.
— Bilingual Storytime in Carson City. 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Carson City Library at 900 N. Roop St. Weekly themed singing, stories, finger-plays, or art centered around a book in both English and Spanish. Participants 9 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver of at least 13 years of age at all times.
— P'Opera! Alfresco at the Toiyabe Golf Club in Washoe Valley. 6 p.m. at 19 Lightning W Ranch Road, New Washoe City. Sierra Music Society is pleased to announce that the always popular “P’Opera!” is planning a fun-filled event with its “P’Opera! Alfresco” at Toiyabe Golf Club in Washoe Valley at 19 Lightning W Ranch Road, New Washoe City NV 89704 on Sunday, June 16th.
There is only one show: 6 pm. $20 per person. Bring your own picnic and enjoy sunshine, fresh air and “P’Opera!” Music on the beautiful grounds of Toiyabe. If you don’t have time to prepare a picnic, purchase dinner from Toiyabe GC who will be grilling burgers, dogs, and tri-tip. This multi-talented group transcends all expectations with their beautiful voices, close harmonies, and fun choreography.
