Controversial Bee Bill quietly dies, fails to meet committee deadline

On April 13, the controversial Bee Bill, Senate Bill 389, quietly died after it failed to meet the committee deadline, according to the Nevada Legislature website.

Over 100 Nevadans in both Carson City and Las Vegas came forward to protest the bill on April 8 during its discussion before the Natural Resources Committee meeting.

Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range open Wednesday and Thursday evenings at no cost

Beginning April 17, the Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range will be open for free public use on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. During this time, the range will be monitored by Carson City Park Rangers, as they are Range Safety Officers, certified by the National Rifle Association.

Nevada notes grim stat as safety reminder: 1,179 work zone crashes resulted in 12 fatalities

CARSON CITY — With numerous road improvement projects across the region, the Nevada Department of Transportation and Nevada Highway Patrol are reminding motorists to drive safely in road work zones every day, including during National Work Zone Awareness Week, held April 8-12.

Last week I went to visit Greenhouse Garden Center in Carson City with my plant buddy Peggy. While a bit early for full inventory, they had some amazing hellebores. They are also called Lenten roses, because they bloom at the beginning of Lent.

Saturday Easy Hike to V&T Railroad Grade hosted by Muscle Powered

Please join Muscle Powered on Saturday, April 13 for an easy hike on a portion of the V&T Railroad Grade, northwest Carson City. Meet at the dirt parking lot opposite Murphy Drive on Combs Canyon parking area. Hike on a portion of the old V&T Railroad and enjoy fabulous views of Carson City and Eagle Valley. Hike distance will range between 2-4 miles, depending on trail condition.
