Cultural Commissioner Karen Abowd honored for leadership in the arts with creative tribute
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Thu, 12/20/2018 - 1:07pmHappy Holidays to Carson City Nevada Government Mayor Pro-Tem and Cultural Commissioner Karen Abowd! I dusted off my sewing machine to make her a Burning Man inspired Holiday Stocking as a memento of thanks for her leadership in the arts.
City staff then filled it with holiday goodies while the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada donated their creativity to make a banner and snowflakes! At today's Board of Supervisors meeting, Karen's last of 2018, the community, in unison, thanked and acknowledged her tireless efforts in creating a better cultural landscape for Carson City.

While the individuals were correct in that the Andersons have every right to sell their land, the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors are not automatically obligated to approve a zoning amendment from agricultural to residential to allow for said land to be developed.

Mylo McCormick and Christopher Leyva are the two newest board members, appointed by the Board of Supervisors on October 4.

Kristin Luis: 11,079 (50.92 percent)
Ryan Russell: 10,680 (49.08 percent)
Carson City Sheriff
Kenny Furlong: 17,536 (78.86 percent)
Lorne R. Houle: 4,700 (21.14 percent)
